<p>While I know that Cornell doesn't post its writing section scores, does it at least consider them in admission? It seems odd why they would just completely disregard a section if all top tier schools weigh them equally.</p>

<p>As of last year, it appears that most colleges at Cornell do not consider the writing section. Some colleges (i.e., engineering) clearly do not (again, as of last year).
There’s a rumor that ILR may for some purposes.</p>
<p>Since Cornell doesn’t consider the writing section in admission, “all top tier schools” do not weigh all sections of the SAT equally.</p>
<p>At the very least (even if the writing section is actually considered), the SAT essay doesn’t count - that’s what Cornell says on its Common Data Set.</p>
<p>As zephyr said the majority of the colleges at Cornell do not even look at the writing score. I too, have heard that ILR, does indeed look at the Writing score though. You may want to e-mail/call them for further clarification.</p>
