I recently received an email from Cornell asking me to reply if I was interested in January admission through the first-year spring admission program. I was wondering if this is a generic email that everyone who requested consideration for spring admission received or if it means that I am likely to be admitted for January, because if i am admitted to January i would prefer to attend a cheaper local university to save money in the fall before going to Cornell.
TLDR: Did anyone who applied for spring admission from the waitlist not get an email?

They may be starting to fill the Spring admit freshman class. According to published material, it will be approx 125 students from AG (approx 30), A&S (Appox 60), Hotel (approx. 30) and HE (approx 20). There will be no spring admits for ILR, Engineering or Architecture. Some students were admitted directly to spring in April, but either spots have opened up or they left some open to fill from waitlist.
I got the email from the college of Arts and Sciences.
While I am not sure about your specific situation, I can say that some of the January acceptances have already come out. When you applied for consideration for waitlist, did you choose the option to be considered for both?

Also, all the colleges are going about the spring admissions thing their own different way. I haven’t heard of anyone getting accepted by the College of Arts and Sciences. In fact, the email I got seemed to imply that no one has been accepted yet (it said to answer by the 30th if you are still interested).

I just got an email that my Cornell decision is avalible but am waiting till I get home to login and open it. It looks the same as the email that I got on Ivy decision day. Is this the same thing you got @Ilikeice ?
