cornell spring admission?

Hey everyone! I'm currently enrolled in SUNY Binghamton, but Cornell is my dream school. Unfortunately I did not get in.
Brief stats:
ACT: 29
SAT: reading 710, writing 690, math 580 (yeah there low, I'm aware)
President of largest club at my school, officer position in another club
4 years of volunteer work with 3 different organization
Recommendation from principal
3.84 GPA
5s on all my APs
Solid essays

So in order to transfer to Cornell, a minumim of 12 credits is needed. I spoke to the admissions office today, and if I complete 12 credits in my first semester, (which is on the low end, no?) Then I can transfer for the spring of my freshman year. The woman on the phone said it was uncommon, but that it was allowed. She also said that given the fact that I would have the bare minimum of credits completed, (or in the process of completion) I am a less competitive applicant than someone with more credits, based on credits alone.

So let's say, I rock my first semester at Bing and apply as a spring transfer. What do you guys think? She also said if I don't get in for the spring, I can apply for the fall no problem.

I would be applying to CALS as a communication major, which is in the SUNY system which will help my chances, yes? And is less competitive than the other schools (Transfer acceptance is around 51%)

I don't know what advice I'm actually looking for, but any would be appreciated c:

Oh and a 650 on lit and 710 on USH

P.S - do you like Binghamton? If you a state resident, the tuition is great and it is a ver good school. Why the desire to change so soon? A lot of kids go to Binghamton over many top schools because of its excellent reputation, esp. in business.

Ill be a freshman in the fall, because of financial reasons. But I am not looking forward to it and am looking to transfer asap. I’ve visited and basically hated it, and they do not have the major (communication) I want.

Bing is a highly regarded school. If you hated it that much, why did you go there in the first place? There must have been other NY state schools that could have been considered.
Just my opinion.

The situation is complicated and irrelevant to the question I’m asking haha, so I’d rather not discuss it on here

Hey! I’m sorry you didn’t get in. We have somewhat similar stats & I’m also in CALS for comm. I think that if you truly feel Bing isn’t for you youve got nothing to lose in trying a spring transfer. What’s the worst that could happen? You wait til the fall? & ik a bunch of kids that don’t go to Cornell til sophomore year anyway as a guaranteed transfer, so dont feel like you’d be left out if you miss frosh year (perfect example: i started my current high school as a sophomore and don’t even notice come graduation) I tend to only check these posts sporadically so feel free to pm me if you want!
