Hi - D22 ( bay area/CA) is planning to apply to Cornell. Some of the schools seem to be state funded ( like Dyson, ILR) . Do in-state vs out-of-state admit rates differ widely when the school is state-funded. Is there a way to find out. Thanks in advance.
Cornell doesn’t publish breakdown by college but overall, 27% of students are from NYS.
There was an article published in the Cornell Sun a few years ago that touched upon your question:
"In the three contract colleges at Cornell — CALS, Human Ecology and the ILR School — which are partially funded by New York State, being an in-state resident can give the applicant an extra edge. Tan said that when the contract colleges look at two applicants who are both “great,” the one from New York “might get another look.”
Cornell really wants to be sure students are focusing on fit. IMO, the most important thing your student can do is to be sure they are applying to the college that best matches their strengths.
What @momofboiler1 said.
Also, Dyson is not one of the contract schools.
