Local Atmosphere Rankings: C+

Girls: C-

Nightlife: C+

Weather: D

dayum!
the only good thing is Food at cornell

:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

lol prolly gonna be too busy with hw to be worried about how the girls look!
lol and plus college ******* gave cornell a B+ for the drug scene...if there arent A+ girls, u can at least make them look A+ to urself =P jk cheer up im sure cornell will be fun

Your "ranking" of Cornell depends on personal perferences...

If you like the cold and rain, like me, you'd rank weather higher. If I couldn't stand the weather, I wouldn't have applied ED; it's a bigger deal than you think when you have to walk a mile uphill in it.

Nightlife is pretty decent, except for parties ending too early and the narsty beer (on the bright side, you get used to it and develop a true appriciation for decent alcohol). If by nightlife, you mean clubs, then I guess it's not great.

You'll like the local atmosphere if you don't mind not being in a bustling city...Though I like cities, I wasn't looking to spend my college years in one. Once again, this was a major part of my decision to apply ED. ED is a big deal.

Choosing a college is a difficult process, but the things you mentioned should definitely be taken into account before making a decision (too late for some of the ED applicants). Cornell isn't for everyone and the rankings you provided can't be applied to the entire student body, so don't get down about them.

w...t....f.... why is prow ler **'ed?

LOL, this reminds me of last year when sparticus was banned...who's next

did you apply to Cornell, evanescenteuphoria?

hahah why was sparticus banned? hes the heart and soul of the cornell forum!! =P

he was banned from using a link from **************, I believe, so we started a protest, because last year's board was insane...

run a search for "p r o w l e r" or "bring back sparticus" and you might find the thread we started

HAHAHAHAHA
ok lemme check..

wow thats intense! glad hes back

yeah, i was just trying to help and CC showed no love hahaha

YEA NO love shame on them....

Local atmosphere: ithaca is great...the area around sucks. There's more than enough to do here though. I rarely leave campus and i'm almost never bored. when I do leave campus, ithaca is a cool town. when i drive home, then there's the sucky atmosphere. there is NOTHING for miles around ithaca, but the local area is great with lots of cool stuff. if you drive north, there's still pretty much nothing, but the scenery as you drive along the lake is incredible, especially in fall.

Girls: yeah, not so hot, but there are some hotties, and there are so many girls that even if only 5% of the campus were hot that would amount to over 300 hot girls. and obvously more than 5% of the campus is attractive. And really, it's not great, but the bad part is exaggerated. look at the class of 2009 myspace group and you'll see a cross-section of girls ranging from "OH MY GOD!!!shield eyes" to "wow, she's bangin'!"

nightlife...i really can't complain. I like the frat parties, and there are usually other cool things to do at night like that free skating or "movies on the slope" etc. The hot dance clubs and bars are within the frats in a way.

weather: sucks if you love sun and warmth, but now that it's gotten past that rainy phase in late october through, it's much better. It's cold, but snowflakes drifting down is so much nicer than rain. For a skier, it ain't bad at all here.

I understand where p r o w--...oh wait i didn't say it!...haha, DON'T BAN ME FOOLS! is coming from. If you like big, vibrant cultural centers for your local atmosphere, slews of hot girls (ok, so that really is a fault here at cornell;)), tons of hoppin' bars and clubs (there are some bars in collegetown, and like i said, the frats provide the club scene), and warm, sunny days with blue skies year round, cornell isn't great for you, but there are many people who don't require some of these aspects, want just the opposite, or can cope with the parts that are unappealing because other parts are so great.

prow...'s rankings are not rediculous, they're just biased.

I applied ED.

the things i DO love about the school are:
beautiful campus
great food (which i have been in lack of for many years)
ivy status
huge campus

i'm from Los angeles so those rankings kinda shook me up a bit as i'm used to A's for all those categories I listed.

the weather is depressing to most, but i like it. unpredictable, cloudy, grey, snowy in winter. it's very nice. and the location is underrated. there's a lot of nice stuff nearby. the rural atmosphere is nice, watkins glen has nascar (zzzzzz) and the best state park in the US, and Corning is an amazing city and the glass museum is awesome. winter in ithaca is amazing, especially christmas.

ok, i'm from northern central new york. I've never considered ithaca to be isolated. But, when i did a bike race in providence, i was like "holy crap, we're in the middle of nowhere."

I guess comming from the east, it does seem like the middle of nowhere. But, not from the North.

People, go to Syracuse, and bring alot of money and go to the mall. It's huge. I live there, so i can testify to its greatness. It'll make Ithaca look no so isolated.

ithaca might seem a little isolated to me cuz i'm from los angeles.

the isolation won't kill me the weather will...

i guess it'll seem isolated if you're used to living in a city where there's stuff to do right next door.

It's totally isolated for me, but I don't mind it
