Well... most of us. I live in Dallas, which is extremely snobby in some areas and as a girl, you have to work to keep up with all the Southern belles! So if I wasn't found attractive.. I think all my work would be going to waste... =)

=P i used to live in texas, namely desoto and arlington im sure ur attractive if ur from texas and others down there think so. i hope u get in and good luck to everyone!

yeah so i really havent visited CC since like before I got my decisions last year... but I gotta stick up for my alma mater here tho ive got a huge amount of studying/reading to make up for my laziness for the past 3 months or so...

anyway, lets see...

like the OP i believe or evanblahblahblah i actually decided to come here over more urban choices mainly because I knew that with my ADD chances are I'd never make it at any place that wasn't in the middle of nowhere...

sad to say I was kind of disappointed by Ithaca because it hasn't exactly lived up to expectations...

As far as girls go, believe me I'm not a subscriber to the whole "arse is arse" theory, but as far as girls go, you do have to keep in mind theres quite a few here so it's not like one of those extremely small LACs where youre kinda stuck with what you have. that said theyre not disposable, as far as quality goes there's kinda a gaussian distribution here as you might expect with a large sample size (im working on stats haha right now) but its not skewed either way. Translation: there are a lot of "average" girls, and some plus ones as well as some that you probably wouldnt be interested in. haha yea they all have "nice personalities." Don't things to go much differently from HS (not to diss anyone's game, but chances are if you want a really "ban*in chick you've gotta be pretty high up yourself because she's in short supply and chances are, you aren't). When you are off meeting girls chances are you will be housed anyway, and they will too so it all works out, we keep ourselves warm here in Ithaca, and if you're real picky you can go across the hill with your free bus passes (next years freshies get them too, theyre pretty useful) to IC.

As far as the nightlife goes, if you wanna get extremely wasted every night, hey go ahead, it's more than possible. Unlike other "oh we dont pretend to be elitist" Ivies that don't have "frats" per se, there are plenty of frats here. Yes naturally they range in quality and you'll get a good idea of the places with good reputations pretty quick but every place is trying to boost its standing among potential brothers/sisters... if youre a girl, youll have easier access haha... there's also house parties and the like in college town, and theres plenty of different "places" to go to (not quite a NYC club per se, but nice joints) that bring in surprisingly good acts to perform and such. Collegetown is a pretty nice place to hang out esp. if you've got older friends with apartments and the like.

And once youve pregamed, partied your heart out, and are ready to wind down, there's always Bear Nasties to do a little "postgaming" (campus owned "eatery" inside RPU thats got the greasiest food imagineable but its good.... its basically like a glorified cornell brand 7-11), you'll see quite a few of your fellow drunks stumbling in until the place closes at 3 AM on Saturdays...

As far as the surroundings go, yeah you really don't need to venture off campus much, but if you do, Ithaca has a bunch of restaurants, bars and such, ranging from the quirky/sketch to more upscale.

I go downtown once or twice a week to work at the Daily Sun and it's fairly nice and well-managed. It's not like say a really small town. And yea I've been to Providence too, and it sure beats Thayer Street. There's always trips up to Carousel Mall in Syracuse (not exactly King of Prussia or Short Hills or Roosevelt Field but it's got 95% of the stores youll wanna shop at, minus say idk a Nordstrom or so).

And if you still want to do the big city party thing, there's buses constantly to New York City on Short Line and what not. I think it's $30 each way so if you want to spend a weekend (technically you could even go during the week but the buses arrive at weird times here like 4:30 AM) clubbing in the city or whatever be ready to shell the big bucks (there are times where there will be sponsored trips for about $30 to go see a broadway show and shop and whatever).

All in all, I really like it here. There really is a lot to do, and really the food thing is big hahaha. I've seen bad college food to, and with all the different places on campus offering different types of stuff plus all the little eateries and what not, you'll understand where the freshman 15 comes from (of course with all the walking, it should balance out).

Granted, chances are you'll have your hands full with work unless you're in certain majors that I won't mention here, so right about now the most popular place on campus is Club Uris (haha, the library, open 24/7 just in case you run out of a place to stay).

There's always some brilliant way to spend time so really, I don't know where the 'dead atmosphere' thing comes from. Do some research kids (preferably come spend a weekend here next sememster or something).

I know decisions will be coming out soon for ED, so good luck to all of you.

And yea, PM me or post or something if you've got any questions or anything.

wow talk about a long post zoudini. a good post nevertheless. thanx

Please mention them.

Haha, basically everything besides engineering...

wait a tick, im not in engnr either... but then again, when youre doing 3 fairly unrelated messages, what can you expect?

hopefully it snows tonight, i stole a tray from oakenshields so im all set to go sledding down libe slope 2morra....

I think I have a weird case of seasonal affective disorder cause I personally adore grey, rainy days and snow. Oh and why does everybody keep saying Cornellian females are unattractive? How did it start?

Yeah right now is the season of gray... for me, I mean I've lived everywhere in NYS... Brooklyn, SI, LI, Bronx, Upstate...

and as far as the females go, honestly, like i said, its not exactly true... there are plenty of attractive cornell females, they just happen to not be interested in the guys that are complaining about em hence the poor ratings...

im sure there are plenty of attractive cornell females just cause of the sheer number. i presume the males are attractive since i havent seen any complaints about that. from what the cornell website tells me i the campus is mulicultural, diverse, and etc etc but is it really?

yeah it really is...there are a several blacks and hispanics on my hall, some asians, several international kids from obscure countries, and a few attractive girls. there's even a kid who's 1/2 jewish, 1/4 black, and 1/4 "?"

All right, I'll complain about the guys for you. Most of the ones worth anything have girlfriends, and the most attractive ones are the ones stumbling around drunk/stoned every night and after seeing this you wouldn't want to get to know them ANYWAY.

I think it's mostly just girl-bashing here because it's mostly guys from cornell (as opposed to girls) that are posting right now. Believe me, it's a two-way street.

I always complain about the guys, run a search. Overall, as a girl, I will agree that there are definitely more attractive guys than girls. Generally, it's not hard to find decent looking members of the opposite sex. There will be bad nights, but that's expected. I haven't met too many guys with girlfriends (some guys tend to forget they have girlfriends, though), and I don't think there's anything wrong with getting to know people you met while obliterated. I've been to parties where there was an abundance of attractive guys and some where there weren't any. It all depends on where you go, I guess. And um, it's what's on the inside that counts ;)? (but it's really not, at all).

i have a girlfriend :) It's nice to not need to party hop to find a hot girl.

But believe me, Cornell does have its share of hot girls. Alot of them congregate at Trillium for some reason.

or walking back from the hotel school on friday afternoons.

"Overall, as a girl, I will agree that there are definitely more attractive guys than girls. "

AGHH. KILL ME NOW!

should i withdraw my app? (of course not only b/c of the girl attractiveness issue)

haha...interesting topic.

OK here I go. I hope I can make this sound plausible and not offend anyone at the same time. Just look around at your own school for instance. How many girls are truly smart (like Ivy league material) and hott (like I would date her) at the same time? It's just not that frequent. I will admit they are out there but they aren't the most abundant types.

What did you guys expect at an Ivy League School anyway? You can't have the best education, girls and lives now can you?

Evanescenteuphoria, if you're really that unsure about Cornell, feel free to open up another slot for what could be an acceptance. =P ED is really for people who are set on the college they apply ED to and really not having second thoughts.

lol, evanescent, I'm sure your pimpin' won't be affected by the hot guy:girl ratio if you're good looking enough...and did you really expect an ivy league school to be full of America's sexiest college students? I've said it before, and I'll say it one more time: if you're good looking or decent looking and realistic you won't have a problem ;). I wish I could say if you're good looking and not a dirtbag, but many girls (ie my friends) seem to have an affinity for dirtbags.

Haha you guys are damn hilarious. i really hope to get accepted ed! xpecially for all the hot cornellian males out there~ jp. i hope all the jock, prep, dork groups are eliminated. i really want to make some fun, intelligent friends.

oh and spanks, i completely agree w/ your comment about the unrealistic expectation of hot guys/girls at ivy schools. but one can still hope!
