Is anyone else planning on attending the Cornell Summer College this Summer? I'm enrolled in The Business Leadership program.

I am going. Studies in Film Analysis. But If i can't stand it, I might switch to business during the second day.

I'm going for three weeks to the psychology program.

have fun. ithaca is AWESOME

7 days..... =)

ithica is awesome?

ithica is the reason why so many people commit suicide at cornell.

it's in the middle of the forest. (at least compared to the city).

I live in Ithaca. I can say that Ithaca is very nice, especially this time of year, and there is lots of things to do, like go sailing on Cayuga Lake, etc. Ithaca is not all in the country though, it has its malls and shops. The Commons is an outdoor mall that you can go to that is nice. There's lots of things to do. Its a great town.

PurpoisePal:
1. it's spelt ithaca
2. a cornell student hasn't committed suicide in years.
3. most cities are in the middle of a forest...they cut down trees, and build a city. Thank you for your informed and helpful contributions. What (correct) information do you know about ithaca (the spelling and suicide thing were wrong)? I'm really curious about your experience with ithaca. It's awesome that you know there are trees there...

"2. a cornell student hasn't committed suicide in years."

Interesting. I was under the impression (as are many others based on some of my recent conversations) that Cornell has one of, if not THE, highest suicide ratings amongst all the colleges in America?

not true-

according to MIT

"Cornell University is one peer institution that does maintain moderately complete records of their student deaths in response to a common perception that they have a high suicide rate. Cornell had eight students take their own lives in the past ten years. With about 19,000 students on campus, Cornell has a suicide rate of about 4.3 per 100,000 student years for that time period, far below both MIT and national rates."

cornell is like 4.6 for every 100,000 and mit is 14.6 for every 100,000

Very interesting. I'll make sure to bring that up the next time Cornell's suicide rate is mentioned.

Where did you find the exact suicide numbers?

hmmm let me look back

thats the site from MIT

"Ithaca is Gorgeous"

I'm a Summer College alum. Had an amazing time summer after sophomore year. Still keep in touch with a bunch of my friends (a few ended up going to school with me).

I have a friend who is doing the Freedom and Justice: The Law in Theory and Practice program.

I really would like to apply to Cornell's Summer College, as it is the school of my dreams, but don't you have to apply? What exactly are the chances of me being able to go. I'm going to be a sophmore this year, so I think I'm going to apply this year, but what exactly are they looking for, other than good grades? I kinda looked at the application, but I was wondering, for the people who went, what were your grades like and you extra-curriculars?

Application process is not that selective (competition for financial aid might be fierce though)
