I also got accepted, but am waiting for SAMS decisions and considering between Carnegie Mellon’s APEA and this program. To anyone that has attended, how is the dorm life? Did you ever feel at a disadvantage in your college classes?

hi, im a junior in highschool. i was thinking about applying to the business program. i was wondering, is it hard to get into? is is worth the money and time? my sats are low for CR(590) , avg for writing 660, math (750 which im satisfied with) For those of you who got into this program, do you think they require high grades, gpa, sat?

I was accepted and I will be attending the Introduction to Architecture Program! Beyond excited!

designdreamer - Hey, I was also accepted by the Arch program! Hope to see you there ;

@theblurrr Yes! This is so exciting, I can’t wait!

I am wondering if anyone going to Cornell summer college is from Northern California? My D is going this summer and I am a bit worried, since she’ll be on her own for the first time.

Have fun everyone who is going! @Lubatab you shouldn’t worry too much though I know my mom was worried when I headed off to college. There are so many ways for the students to get help if they need it and so many resources available. The RCA’s are there to help with adjusting and make sure that everyone is doing okay, along with checking in on the students every night. We undergo training before the session starts to help us prepare for situations we may encounter. We also make ourselves available as much as we can to all the students. Personally, I will be available just about 24/7 since I am not taking a class and an RCA for each building is on call every night for the students if they need anything.

@designdreamer Do we check in on June 20th or 21th? I am a little confused right now, 'cause I just checked the calender and it said 21th is a saturday…

@theblurrr We check in on Saturday, June 21st beginning at 9:00 AM and classes begin on Monday, June 23rd.

@designdreamer ohhh, bummer, looks like I bought the plane ticket one day earlier

Anyone else going this summer?

I’m going and got accepted for the vet program.

Classes begin in exactly two weeks!

Hello,
I’m a junior in high school, and I am interested in Cornell’s Summer Program. I am interested in two courses: architecture, and design immersion.
Have any of you been to Cornell Summer College? How much work are these courses? (I haven’t found anything on this) How are you graded in these courses and how hard is it to get a good grade? What grade did you get if you have been? Do I have to have any background in design or architecture? How is the social situation (are people friendly, etc.)?

Thanks!

Hi @isaac2097 - I went to Cornell University Summer College last summer. I took a course in veterinary medicine, so while I don’t have personal experience in the courses you are interested in, I did have a lot of friends who did the architecture program. At least for that class, the people I knew in it did have a lot of work. They were designing/making a lot, and they were at the architecture studio until late at night. It was manageable, though, and I know they all really liked it. For me, I had to study a lot because there was a lot of material we were learning, and we also had tests every week. If you study and work hard, you can get a good grade. I got an A+. I don’t think you need a lot of experience with design or architecture to go to the program, but it wouldn’t hurt either. The social situation was great - everyone was really nice and friendly, and you’ll make good friends from whatever course you take.

@hopefulrm Thanks!

@hopefulrm Awesome! I got accepted into the vet med program for this summer. Could you elaborate on your experience in the classes a bit if you wouldnt mind? Im gonna be taking vet med: small animal practice, and vet med: equine practice.
Hi Everyone,
I am arranging this summer to research in the lab of one of the professors at Cornell as a high-school intern. However, according to what the professor has told me the only way to officially do this as a minor is to apply through the Cornell Summer College through the "General Research" portion. I will be living locally with a parent and I will not be taking any of the courses there, since I am just conducting research over the summer. Would anyone know a rough estimate of how much it would cost for the program, excluding residential fees and the courses?
Thanks
@Dew123 it depends on how many weeks you’re staying. 3-weeks is around $6,000 and 6 weeks is around $12,000
V. expensive
Thanks for your answer. Do you know how much of the cost is made up of housing? From my experience, for many of these programs it’s the residential cost that makes up the bulk of it.
