I got an email once all of my information was in, saying that they wanted updated grades for AP Chem and Precalc because my grades from the transcript were quite low, and that these low grades “can affect college admission”.
I replied with my updated (improved) grades, and they said that I’d hear from them soon, but it’s been ~a week.

@ithacakid- they asked for updated grades?? i didnt know summer college did that especially because its rolling admission for summer college (with the exception of some courses)
@clinegirl- yea i applied for the fall also!! hoping for CALS i hope summer college was a big help on our apps!

Yeah, because my grades in those two classes were substantially lower than all of my other grades.

well don’t worry because im not that excellent in the academic area, but i still got accepted and still did well in my classes there. They accepted me and guess what…i had never taken an AP class in my life…so i would’nt be discouraged if I were you :)

ok, so i got in today, but my parents wont let me go until i get financial aid. the email says to respond asap, but i haven’t heard from financial aid yet. what should i do?

I’m stilling hoping/waiting for my admit email

@cornell 2016- when i got accepted i waited until i got my financial aid information before i responded, so i would wait to find out about the financial aid stuff (or you can contact them also to see if you were given any aid)
and congrats also what courses are you going to do?

thanks aminata7, im going to do body mind and health

Wait… The actual applications are due April 30th, or sometime around that… right? Because I didn’t even write my statements yet… O_o;;

RABS and Vetmed is due march 10
Architecture is due april 2nd
and All other programs are due April 30th

oh yeah, one more question, im vegetarian, do i have to make a special request for vegetarian food or will they have it w/o me requesting

I’m sure they’ll have food there that you can eat. I haven’t found anything in the paperwork about dietary needs and stuff like that. Have you been accepted yet??

no you dont have worry about the dietary needs thing…there were alot of vegetarians in the vetmed program i did…it was kind of weird, like more than half the class didnt eat meat, but anyway i also had a friend who was vegan also and there were alot of options in the dining halls for the veggies/vegans to choose from so you’ll be just fine…

My daughter really wants to attend the Sustainable Animal Husbandry VetMed program. How competitive is the application process? She is a Junior, top 10% of class large public HS and takes 3 APs this year. 700 CR & 710 Math on first round of SATs. Cornell is one of her top colleges for next year.

@nj2011mom-The vetmed program is one of those programs that you have to show a genuine, dedicated interest in to get it. She needs to be serious about the whole veterinary thing if she wants to take the cornell classes…I say this because Im not in the top 10% of my class, I have never taken an AP class before, and my SATs are low, but i still was accepted to the program over other kids who did have those kinds of stats (and vetmed is not the easiest program to get into). The reason i was accepted is because i showed serious passion for veterinary medicine, and if your daughter can reflect that when she applies, than she has a really good chance of getting in…
(im glad cornell is one of her top choices for next year…good choice :))

thanks for the info. I will let her know. Her practice college application essays are all about wanting to be an equine vet (she also loves cows), so it sounds like she has a good chance. We also visited Cornell in November and she liked the campus. Biggest drawback is they don’t offer a BioMed Engineering major. Where do they house the summer program?

Summer college kids are housed on west campus (Donlon and Balch), and vet med kids classes are in the vet school/small animal science buildings…the buildings are about half an hour away walk from the dorms (its not that bad a walk though), unless you know the 15 minute shortcut (or buy a bike)…

^adding to this,
most 3 week kids are in Donlon and most 6 week kids are in Balch. Donlon is mostly doubles with one or two quads or singles on each floor. I think Balch is also mostly doubles.
most classes are a 15+ min. walk from north campus (but a pretty walk!) I think the closest class was the Architecture students.

Is this program rolling admissions?

I’ve heard that Cornell has the best food ;)

It seems to me that a lot of these pre-college programs are really uncompetitive and almost everyone gets it. Is it the same for Cornell as well?
