Cornell Supplement Essay

I was working on my supp essay, and wondered if anyone would be willing to look it over. Any takers?
If there are, just let me know, and I'll PM it to you...
Thanks!

I'll take a look.

I can take a look.
I do have a low post count, so if that matters to you, you can decline my offer.

another thing. my supplement essay is 562 words. is that too much over the word limit of 500?

pm me. thank you.

i wouldnt mind offering my 2 cents :)

I’m helping my friend edit her Common Application Essay. It is 895 words long. Is that too long? People seemed to say not to exceed 800 words.

My daughter’s essay was 594 words and she was accepted. Our college counselor said to keep it on one page - also don’t forget your complete legal name and birthdate***. Read all the instructions.

hey swimmer, if i’m submitting the essay online, i dont have to include my name and birthdate do i? the online common apps instructions didnt include it…

^ I submitted it online.
I did not include my name and birthdate so no.

it shouldn’t exceed 600 words let alone 800.

xurumeng- I’m guessing you are not talking about the Cornell supplement but the actual Common App Essay. If that is the case, my essay was 1200 words (edited down from over 1400) and I got in early to Cornell so I wouldn’t worry about it. Just cut out as much as you possibly can without losing the importance of your topic, whatever that may be.

for the name/birthdate thing - that’s the specific instructions on the supplement. I’ve heard of LOTS of people automatically rejected for not checking the box for the school they’re applying to, even if the essay makes it obvious. Just don’t take chances and follow instructions for the supplement carefully. Obviously, the common app has its own guidelines.

Yes, I was not referring to the Supplement Essay. I meant the actual Common App. that every school requires. People seemed to say no more than 800 words about 1 1/2 page. But since manaTs4ever’s 1200 words essay was accepted, I guess 896 words is OK. My only concern is we are submitting our Application around this period and the deadline is 1 Jan. I wonder if there is an unwritten bias against last minute submissions?

By the way, is Cornell easier to get in than Michigan? If so, then Cornell will be my ‘safety’ choice; otherwise Michigan will be the spare tyre, so to speak. So far, I’ve lined up Wisconsin and Seattle as ‘spares’.

no Cornell is harder to get in than Michigan.

I’ll read it!
and when I’m done with mine, I can send it to you, too. It may take about two days though ehh lol
