Cornell Supplemetn over 650 Words!

Hi Everyone,

My Cornell writing supplement is over the maximum of 650 words by 48 words. I know this sounds very stupid of me to ask but I’m just not sure how strict they are with word limits. 48 words doesn’t seem like a big deal but I don’t want to do anything that would jeopardize my application. So if anyone could inform or clarify if it’s fine or if I should cut it down that would be awesome! Sorry if I sound like an extreme worrier, its just my dream school!

Thank you!

If they say the max is 650 words, do you think they want to read 1000’s of essays that are each just a little bit over?
Don’t be one of those applicants. Essays are an important part of your application. Why take the chance that the AO reading your essay is a stickler. Edit.

What I recall hearing from many admissions officers is that they don’t have time to count your words and that if your essay is engaging and is just a little over, they won’t notice. But if it “seems long”, it’s probably not terrific.
