Hi, I have a question. Does Cornell ever tell your college counselor about your Cornell ED acceptance or denial in advance? Cause I think my counselor called them like a few days ago to ask about a transcript issue, but then after that day, he seems he knows what my result is... Maybe it's just my feeling lol I am pretty sure I didn't get it, but oh well... I wish you a good luck :) One more day to go!

Why do you think you didn’t get in? :(

Well, my GPA is very low, and I applied to AEM… ;( And, today, I was so nervous about tomorrow, and my teacher was like, “Erica, you are not gonna get into Cornell, so do what you need to now first” (like other homework lol). I was like… frustrated. I thought that my counselor had already told him or something since my counselor said he would call Cornell to see whether they wanted my first trimester grades or not a few days ago. I thought that it might have been possible for Cornell to tell him that they didn’t need my grades because the decision had already been made, and it was her … @#$% whateverrrr. I just want tomorrow to come quickly! I am already preparing to turn other applications in as soon as I find out that I am rejected lol sad. Thank you for the consideration tho I appreciate it.

What kind of teacher - ever - would say something like that??? Even speculating is incredibly inappropriate. Our college counselor has told us that Cornell - unlike many other schools - doesn’t release decisions to anyone before they are viewed by the candidates online. I’m sorry for you that you are surrounded by such thoughtless adults.

aww
I hope you get in so that you can scream/yell/hit/ your thoughtless (like Swimmer said lol) guidance counselor for saying something like that

awwww… you guys are so sweet! thank you. we will see who will smile tomorrow. haha

and Swimmer, thank you for the information. I am now much relieved… huah

mellowerica// LOL @ your teacher. i bet your teacher was a female, for women have tendency to make brainless, absurd comments. ^.^.

putting the joke aside, i say you shouldn’t worry about what your counselor or teacher thinks. lol… put your chin up. i hate niglets who think they have some kind of authority to judge others. you dig?

haha, yea… lol you are funny hamstar. you and i should be mature and considerate adults later when we get olderrr lol

anyway, i love cc cause we are all friends here, but then i don’t like cc cause it scares me with the ed myth thingy and stuff. oh well. i hope everyone here gets in and be friends at cornell :D

dude, no offense to cc, but this place is flooded with lifeless nerdbags. lol. i mean, seriously, though.

lol i wish cc has a “like” button

I have a question. Will my counselor be notified about my admission result at the same time I receive it?

I don’t think so… my counselor often tells us that colleges never tell him the results… so i guess not unless counselors ask? i think

Could it be that the GC’s experience has been that Cornell has always called for ED students grades who have been accepted & not called for those rejected in the past & the GC is making an assumption based on this?

^^^^^ csdad that is really not a factor. It is generally accepted that first quarter grades are asked only for borderline candidates :)

That makes the most sense…why go to the trouble to ask for grades for obvious acceptances/denials? I would think they’d have better things to do with their time.

^^^^^
Yes :)

Nervous about your decision yet Swimmer? How you spendin the waiting time? :D

“^^^^^ csdad that is really not a factor. It is generally accepted that first quarter grades are asked only for borderline candidates”

…where did you get this information?

Personally I think it’d be too obvious a practice to ask for first quarter grades for admits, if that’s worth anything. There were many threads around a few weeks ago about people being asked and not being asked for their first quarter grades and there was much discussion, then the general consensus is that it is for borderline candidates. If you’d like confirmation perhaps going back a few pages on this forum might find you more credible information :D

It is not unusual for some GCs (especially from private schools) to have very close relationship with adcoms. They would have a conference call about each applicant prior to the final decision. Adcoms may not necessary tell GCs who is in, but more often than not GCs would have pretty good idea. This is usually done for RD, not for ED. The reason is ED process is so short that adcoms do not have time to speak with GCs. GCs at my kids´school have said that they would not speak on kids´behalf during the ED round.

Some GCs would automatically submit applicants´mid semester grades to ED schools, especially if they are good. It is generally a good sign if adcom requests for additional information.

GCs are informed of college´s decisions(after the result comes out), at least at my kid´s school.

imho

First quarter grades are akin to midsemester grades for rd applicants.
