Cornell = Toughest Ivy to graduate from

A teacher of mine told me it is the hardest Ivy to stay in because there is no "brotherhood."

Any truth to this?

Cornell has frats.

i doubt that

Cornell is hard, but I wouldn't say it's the hardest, and I certainly wouldn't say there is no brotherhood.

i'm graduating from cornell in four years, from the college of engineering

no "brotherhood"

what?

Cornell has the second largest greek scene in the country.

There is some saying that has to do with it being the hardest to get out of because you do have to work hard at it...but I'm sure that's no suprise. And yes it's something like 30% of people rush when they are aloud to? But that also means 70% don't, so no matter which side you are on there is really no problem...

What do frats have to do with the graduation rate? I don't really see the connection there... Can someone explain?

What did your teacher mean by "brotherhood"? Somehow, I don't think it was fraternities.

more traffiking in urban legend / myths/ stereotypes....

yes Cornell is challenging...but more challenging than Harvard, Yale, or Princeton?....if you think logically and carefully you'll conclude no...

No brotherhood? are you saying no esprit de corp? Cornell is an amalgamation of seven undergraduate colleges, each a leader in its respective area...plenty of brotherhood amonst those groups...

brotherhood campus wide is there too...all freshman on North helps this alot...Greek scene helps build lifetime bonds...hockey, slope day, dragon day, all add to the mix...

Life at Cornell is VERY stimulating...

I'm pretty the lack of brotherhood refers to the cut throat nature of the students, not the fraternity scene.

Cornell is certainly a competitive place for many, but it's not cut throat. There's a big difference.

My teacher compared it to Harvard and Yale when he spoke of "borhterhood."

Lemme guess, ur teacher has been to all 3 schools to witness this or is just stereotyping? (especially about Cornell)

stereotyping

but why would he?

son/daughter was rejected

When you don't really know well what you're talking about but want to give the impression that you do, streotyping is the easiest thing to do.

Cornell ties with Columbia as the "Toughest IVY to Get out of", if you go by the 6 year Graduation Rates reported in the May 2006 " First Time Freshmen Graduation Rates" report from Cornells office of IRP. http://ms7.dpbwin2k.cornell.edu/documents/1000350.pdf

Other interesting things in the report are the differences between the Graduation Rates for Cornell's Colleges. On Page 10 of the Report

The different graduation rates for people with Grants, Loans or Work Study - No Aid are on Page 14 of the report.

The grade inflation at Harvard and Princeton and the "do whatever the **** you want, we don't give a ****" attitute at Brown have to do with their graduation rates.

Cornell is NOT cutthroat, it is NOT impossible, and it is NOT an unfriendly place. Where do people get this ridiculous ****?

HYP is not hard to graduate out of, hard to get into, yes, but not to graduate. grade inflation.
