Cornell Transfer Fall 2021

I attended an online webinar and an admission counsellor named Amanda confirmed they would review both apps from Dyson & SHA haha.

Don’t sweat it! If you are a competitive applicant to Cornell in general, it’s very likely that you’re a competitive applicant to Dyson, acceptance rate be damned.

how to determine if a person is competitive?

Checklist just disappeared. ILR non TO.

My checklist is still there, I’m just going to take it as no decision for me today :frowning:

same

It seems that checklists are disappearing throughout the day. Looking at last year’s thread, they seemed to continue to disappear until late afternoon.

Anyone who applied to engineering get a decision yet?

Not that I’ve seen. I was really hoping to get one this week, but I guess not.

Me too

for those that have their checklist gone, tell us ur decisions!!

Wait, that’s really interesting! It seems the relationship between Dyson and its placement in CALS and Johnson are more complex than I thought it would be.

Take a look at this flyer from the Dyson Undergraduate Council, which appears to address when Dyson joined SC Johnson (formerly CCB) in 2016, while also staying within CALS. It notes that for most purposes (including tuition, major requirements, and based on this separate Daily Sun article, student gov representation), Dyson will be staying within CALS for the most part.

So then, under the combined system, it seems that Johnson reviews the applications, but after acceptance the students technically ā€œbelongā€ to CALS (though the actual education is in both).

Regardless, I get the feeling that this doesn’t change the initial question at hand — which is whether CALS AEM and Dyson AEM applicants are reviewed by the same team.

I think what you said was right — that Dyson students are reviewed by Johnson admissions — but that just means that people who listed CALS AEM just get their apps forwarded to Johnson for review. On the CALS AEM degree website, it notes that it is ā€œ[a]t the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management,ā€ which means CALS AEM students are in Dyson. Correct me if I’m wrong?

From the staff directory, the admissions team people are different for both schools tho. You can check it out here:

For SHA: https://sha.cornell.edu/about/directory/departments/239/

For Dyson: https://as.cornell.edu/people

And if you dig a bit more about the history, yes Dyson used to belong to CALS but it seems to be independent now? I think this was mentioned in the webinar but I’m not so sure since I focused mainly on SHA.

FYI this is the webinar: Cornell Business School Info Session - YouTube

Is Cornell really rolling admissions? Wondering since some who applied later are hearing sooner than the ones who applied earlier

I don’t think it’s rolling in that sense. I applied super early but still haven’t heard

It’s sort of random. Not very ā€œfirst come first serveā€ kind of thing. I submitted my app around March 5th-ish and my decision is coming out today

anyone a rising soph who applied to cas with a checklist that hasn’t disappeared yet ??
