Cornell Transfer Hopeful

I'm currently a business student at UBC in Vancouver, Canada. However, I'm hoping to transfer to Cornell next fall as a sophomore. The thing is, I went to a two year high school program instead of a five year one. So when I apply for my transfer, I'll only be 15 turning 16. Will this work for or against me?

I'm pretty mature for my age though, nobody that I currently go to school with knows how old I really am. I had approximately a 90+ average in high school but my ECs were only average. I graduated as the top scholar of my high school, but my program as unique so it only had 14 students in the graduating class. This year, I'm planning on joining and getting really involved with a bunch of clubs as well as continuing with my previous volunteer work. Most of my ECs so far have been volunteering and MUN work, with a slight dabble in golf and piano. I haven't really won any competitions, just the odd honours in Math or Science and winning one free trip to Malaysia based on an essay I wrote on multiculturalism for Tourism Malaysia. I'm trying to land an internship for the spring and summer but my age might be an issue there as well. I think I can score near a 4.0 GPA this year. I'm planning on taking the SATs this December as I have never taken them before. I expect to do fairly well since I do well on standardized tests and scored 100 on both my Math and English provincial exams, but then again, the exams are designed to make people pass. I have not forged great relationships with my professors yet, but as the semester passes I hope to get to know them and my TAs better. I'm desperate to go to Cornell. If I worked really hard on my application and wrote a superb essay (which would be quite hard for me since I don't write great application essays), do you think I'd have a chance for AEM at Cornell?

I'm an Asian female who will probably require financial aid so there's not really a hook there..

I'm also planning on applying to NYU Stern, UMichigan Ross, CM Tepper, and Georgetown McDonough. I will probably also try for UPenn's Wharton and MIT's Sloan but I know the chance of me getting into those will be low. I really want to go to Cornell, I've loved everything I've heard, read, and seen about the school.

Thanks :)

Does anyone also know if I absolutely require the Bio 1+2 requirements to transfer to AEM? Has anyone been able to do it without?

Bio I & II + labs are required. They make no exceptions.

Unfortunately, I have little else to add as your case is unique. We don’t get many 15-year-old transfers. I will say that IMO your chance of getting into Cornell (and MIT, Penn, NYU, etc.) is very slim. You are a 15 year old international transfer requiring financial aid. Need-blind admissions don’t apply to international transfers. My advice would be to study for the SAT/ACT, take many practice tests and prove that you can handle the rigor by scoring very high (2300+/34+). Work on that internship and relevant ECs for AEM.

Is it possible to take one Bio course in the spring semester while applying then take the rest in a summer semester after being accepted?

Call the admissions office, no one here can tell you that with certainty.

Thanks for your help

Good luck, AEM is very hard to get into (i.e. 11% acceptance rate). It would be wise to include some less selective schools on your list.
