Cornell transfer question: Should I submit my SATs

Hey guys,

I’m currently a college freshman who is planning to transfer to Cornell University. i know that for transfers, SAT scores are not required for admissions, but I’m not sure if i should just send it anyways. In high school, I scored (a single sitting, not superscored) a 1,450/1,600 (680 E/W and 770 Math) on the New SAT, which I know is below Cornell’s average.

What do you guys think?
Thanks in advance!

Fist of all you should check the application requirements carefully for the college you are planning to apply to.
Don’t know about now, but at least it used to be that the stated policy was, if you had taken the tests before you had to submit them, else not. That is a bit different than optional

If you are attending a community college now, so never had to submit them to that school, then arguably you might never have taken the tests.

If you are attending a college now that itself requires standardized tests for admission, then presumably you took the tests. In which case, at least previously, you are supposed to submit them with your transfer application.

Even if you don’t have to now, if they know you took them but you don’t submit them, what are they to assume?
They will probably assume they were too bad to submit. Worse than your scores are.

So if I were you, I would submit them.

But I am no expert on transfer admissions so take that for what it’s worth.

@monydad Thanks for the clarification. I guess I misunderstood their transfer standardized test policy.

Please don’t take my “clarification” as truth, check what the college/ university actually says they require, now
.I’ve not looked into this in quite some time.
