On the 2H form at the end of the application there is a question "After you've finished filling out your application, you may feel that something is missing. Feel free to use the space below to tell us anything else about yourself that you want us to know."
I was pretty extensive in my essays.... Dis anyone answer this question? Is it optional. If not I might end up saying some weird stuff...

my guidance counselor (and cornell alum and Cornell alumni network member and interviewer) said it's the optional essay that's not very optional. I did it and answered one of the other 500-word essays questions (but without a word limit).

So basically I'm going to include some information about the classes I took and have a statement discussing my summer plans (I plan to take a summer class to finish off all my requirements)... it's all just practical information. Hopefully it, along with my essays, will satisfy them.

this is directly from the transfer application:

"after you've finished filling out your application, you may feel something is missing. feel free to use the space below to tell us anything else about yourself that you want us to know"

i get the impression that this particular statement means to talk about extenuating circumstances, but i may be wrong. i don't get the impression that this is an optional essay, it certainly is not phrased like an optional essay. just in case though, i will answer it. if anyone could tell me the exact nature of the particular statement, i'd love to know. thanks and good luck to all applicants and congrats to all cornellians for being. . . cornellians

quick question -- are you guys double spacing your essays? It doesn't give specific instructions on the application.

ya, i am double spacing

If you're applying on-line, it will double-space automatically. If you upload your essay, make sure it's single space.

However, if sending in hard copy, then double space is fine.

And yes it is an optional essay; if you feel as though your application is complete without it, then it is. If you need to explain something on your application, then that's your chance.

I guess its too late to think about it now since the deadline is March 15.

I just sent mine out this morning :)

Good luck to you all! (and me too)

Where is everyone applying to (what school) ?

Admission Applications Have Been Extended To April 15th!!!!!!!!!!!

Yup I found that out yesterday when I called to see if they processed my application.

What do you mean "Admission Applications Have Been Extended To April 15th"?

sweet, i guess. i just want to get this over with asap

Where did it say this though?

No where , if you call and ask , you can find out for yourself.

that is true, indeed.

so basically the deadline has been extended to April 15th?

can anyone speculate why they extended the date? have they done this is the past?

they're probably backed up with the 28,000 freshmen applications.
