You have really good chance at Cornell- mainly because you applied ED. My only concern is what your major is (if it’s engineering that is very difficult) and also that you didn’t send in your SAT IIs. The other thing is that your gpa is weird because 8th grade was counted. Colleges usually take your grades and then recalculate your GPA. I think UMich would be a target school for you (they do take a large chunk of students from NY. and NYU might be between a target and safety. However, NYU is really expensive compared to the rest (Cornell has a really good financial aid system). What were your SAT II’s because that might be a problem that you didn’t send them in. Goodluck! Please chance me back

@paxer101 thank you for chancing me! I applied as an Environmental and Sustainability Sciences major and an International Relations minor. Had an interview/meeting with the head of the ESS major about a month ago, but it was not “official”. CALS did not require SATII scores, and I only took 2 (US history - 670 and Math2 - 730) and I felt they weren’t strong enough and may potentially damage my application, so I did not submit them.

I recalculated my GPA based on U-M’s standards (3.0 for Bs, 4.0 for As, 5.0 for 100+) and I’d have about a 3.9 UW and a 4.2 W

For U-M, Environment major and International Studies minor
For NYU, Global Liberal Studies program (hopefully I’d get to study my first year abroad)

my interests/majors are all over the place because honestly, I was indecisive on what I wanted to pursue for the bulk of my high school career, but end of summer/beginning of senior year i kind of/sorta figured it out.

Some colleges can see if you didn’t send in scores so they might assume the scores were worse than they are(they’re actually not bad at all). Obviously, there’s the “colleges cant unsee things argument” which is true. If your asking for my advice I’d send my SAT II’s to other schools you’re applying only because it might give you an edge (there’s a lot of applicants) and also because they’re not exactly your major so it’s okay that you didn’t get a perfect score. I know that NYU is super lax with your standardized test scores so its okay you didn’t send it in there. And Cornell might have higher standards, but your Sat score should make the cut. I hope this helps

Thank you!!

In terms of the SAT IIs, you might want to check on their website to see if they require any. I know that some schools, like MIT, tend to request specific subject tests, so you just want to be careful and cover all your bases with your application. Your ECs seem pretty solid, and you have some nice leadership there. Your scores seem pretty solid as well, and even though you didn’t list out your AP scores, you’ve taken quite a few, which shows an extensive course load. I think you have a pretty good chance, but it also may depend on who else in your area is applying, as some schools have regional officers read your application, and it will probably be compared on that level first.

Do you chance back? If not, that’s ok, but if you did, I would really appreciate it. Thank you so much!
