Curiosity again. What are you all’s W & UW GPAs? My W is 4.47 and UW is 3.98 ( because of 1 B! :(( ).
Daughter is 5.2 W 4.0 UW
Not a Cornell-specific question, but I’m sincerely confused by all of the weighted GPA’s that approach or exceed 5.0.
If an A in an AP class is worth 5 points, and a non-AP class is worth 4 (and it’s literally impossible for all classes to be AP’s, even more so when one is heavily involved in non-AP electives such as visual and performing arts)… how do people end up with weighted averages above the mid-4’s?
@aquapt I’ve always been confused about that too. I think it’s because a lot of schools weight non-AP classes, like honors classes. So in most cases, those who have weighted GPAs above 4.6 or so, in reality would have 4.2s or 4.3s, if only AP classes were weighted. This is just my two cents though, I might be wrong.
In FL or at least South FL, APs are worth 6 and honors are worth 5 so I gave the GPA that our county reports, not recalculated for any school.
Daughter did take 9 AP and 6 dual enrollment classes at the local community college which also count as 6.
There’s a song that plays on a local radio station every day about how goofy everything is in Florida…I guess your GPA system just reiterates that.
@DryMango now that’s an ignorant comment. Good luck with Cornell I think you’ll need it!
@kslinky I think it was a joke.
No, I think he meant it.
I am!
so wait what i’m hearing is some people got financial aid letters in the mail? so why did some people get it and not others?
Does anyone know when they will release acceptance notifications?
@SilverEmpress15 I think Ivy decisions are the 30th of March this year
@kslinky goofy- noun. Harmlessly eccentric Get over yourself. If you can’t laugh about being a little different then something is seriously wrong!
I think we all need luck with a school like Cornell! Luckily I already got into Notre Dame so I’m not too worried
@DryMango Lucky! Wish my college decisions would start rolling in! But I have to wait until about mid-March.
@PinkQuetzal9 best of luck! I know the wait is hard but it will all pay off in the end when you’re at the perfect university next year
@allima I got a reminder about financial aid applications in the mail, I thought everybody got those? I’m in the Midwest if that makes a difference, maybe they just haven’t reached you yet
I am also in the Midwest as the previous poster but did not get anything in the mail. However, the financial aid office did reach out to me in email a week or so ago asking for clarification on one of my documents. It appeared their review of financial aid documents was in full swing. I submitted everything, FASFA, CSS, tax documents and schedules. They have it all! @allima
Anyone know how Cornell notifies you of their decision? E-mail, mail, or what?
