@realperson2990 Don’t feel too bad though because if in fact you needed to “pull out” as you said, by appealing that you cannot afford it, it’s true they will release you but they blacklist you at the same time. In other words, by going with bad-faith and breaking your side of the bargain they will notify your school counselor and the other ivies what you did. I’ve heard of people having to take a gap year because the stain was on their record.
I think there’s a way better win-win way of handling this for both sides, but this isn’t the forum for that.
Any idea how long it takes to get your Applicant ID and PIN after you submit your Common App for RD?
@STEM2017 My S submitted application on Friday (10/7) and received an email from Cornell with ID and PIN on Tuesday (10/11).
I have no idea if I can get into Cornell because my GPA and standardized test scores are extremely different. I suffered from undiagnosed ADHD freshman and sophomore year, so my GPA is a lot lower than it could have been.
Freshman Year: 89
Sophomore Year: 82
Junior Year: 97
Senior Year(first quarter): 101.1
Total Weighted GPA: 3.5
I wrote my essay on the effect that ADHD had on my GPA, so hopefully that will help. I did well on the SAT and ACT as well. I received a 1440 (730 math and 710 English) on my SAT and a 35 (35 writing, 35 math, 36 reading, and 33 science) on my ACT. I have over 100 hours of community service and have a few extracurricular activities that I included on my application.
Will Cornell take into account the fact that my GPA is low because of having ADHD?
As I was reading this I thought to myself half way through, boy if this person would have written an essay on having ADHD it would pretty much garauntee a sort or URM and a sort of diversity reception of an applicant. And as I kept reading I was surprised and happy to see that you wrote about it. If anything I’d say your chances are better because of the essay.
Did everyone’s portal who applied RD updated with this message today?
Hello XXXX,
The Cornell University Undergraduate Admissions Office has emailed instructions regarding online decision notification to all freshman early decision applicants. Online decision notification will take place on December 8, beginning at 5 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time). Please be sure to keep your email instructions for reference.
If you did not receive an email outlining the online admission decision viewing instructions, please contact Cornell at undergradapp@cornell.edu.
Do results usually come out at 5 pm est or earlier?
@Jenn1976
Yup. We’ve still gotta wait a little bit though. Anybody know when they released RD decisions last year?
@Jenn1976 Yes, my son did. I wonder if they sent it to all applicants EA and RD. From my understanding they are releasing EA decisions today. Since we applied RD we only received this notification, but not the instructions.
@Jenn1976 Did you receive an email with the decision login instructions?
@educationfan
I didn’t. Just a standard notification I believe.
The best part about being a senior in high school: when people ask you if you’ve gotten into Cornell yet but you still haven’t even applied
No email @educationfan
@realperson2990 @Jenn1976 Same here. The notification we all received was meant for students who applied EA, since yesterday was a decision day for them.
rejected from penn, cornell’s a close second choice. Let’s get it guys.
Already? @ezbreezy8022 What are your stats
3.86 GPA, 35 ACT, 790, 770 SAT II, I’d give myself an 8/10 on EC’s, and 7.5/10 on Essays. u can chance me if you like just go on my profile. Decisions were released Friday. @realperson2990 how bout ur stats???
Wow, good stuff @ezbreezy8022 3.92 GPA 30 ACT never took the SAT… Pretty good ECs like a couple internships at zoos, vet practices, VP of my class, etc I’m honestly not sure how they all would rank. Surprised you got rejected from Penn, 35 is pretty well above their avg.
yup indian male, plus i think i sent in an average music supplement, a super long resume, and my essays could use a little more work. that in combination with my somewhat low gpa might have been the nail in the coffin. but whatever, i hope to move on and apply for all these wonderful schools @realperson2990
@ezbreezy8022 A super long resume as in over a page or two? I’ve heard colleges view anything over a page or two critically
