****Cornell University Class of 2021 Regular Decision Thread****

Hi guys! I keep seeing people on here getting early acceptances and I’m kind of freaking out… I applied ED to SHA and got deferred and haven’t heard anything since. I’m not a minority so I know I wouldn’t get a diversity letter, but I’m worried that I didn’t get a likely letter or an early acceptance. A lot of people I’m seeing on here got those only from ILR, CSA, engineering, etc. I haven’t really seen anyone from the college of business recieved anything like that. Have any of you that applied SHA got an early acceptance, likely letter, or diversity letter? Cornell is my first choice by far and I’m just nervous that I haven’t gotten anything since it seems like everyone else on here is…

@USUG21 you get a new portal to view your decision

@Julia115 from what I understand very, very few people actually get likely letters and by no means should you think that not getting one means you’re not getting in. A few pages back I think someone said that not even top applicants should automatically expect to get a letter; some other people even reported that they got a physical likely letter without receiving any email, so I think they are handed out semi-randomly. Don’t stress about it.

thank you! you just made me feel so much better

@julia115 very similar situation to you- i applied to sha ed, was deferred and received my letter of acceptance in the mail a couple weeks ago (not a minority) so don’t give up hope  if you look at threads from the past, SHA and ILR do release decisions early but there have also been people who get acceptances on march 30th so do not stress!

Guys, how much does asking for FA as an international student hurts your chances at the College of Hum Eco. I was wondering about this because since this year they also meet need of accepted internats… Thanks

@zb5995 Congrats! Could you share your stats/activities with us

Any likely letters given for CALS?

@ivydreamer2021 i received a diversity likely last wednesday via email, and the same letter via snail mail on monday; applied to CALS with an anticipated major in biological engineering

@chipotle101 What are ur stats?

^ You can just PM them to me if you’d like.

Has anyone gotten a likely letter from CALS yet?? Also, does having two parents that attended Cornell help that much for Regular Decision??

Hey guys, out of curiosity, do you think it’s still possible to receive a “Diversity Hosting” letter (today is March 22) or is it too late?

@nationofpeace14 please read the thread before asking mundane questions. You literally could have read three posts before yours (post #948) and seen the answer to your question. Also, if you go back a few pages, you will see that dozens of CALS applicants received likely/diversity letters.

And yes, Cornell is fairly loyal to alumni. Having two alumni parents will help a lot, but it will not get you into the school without other merits.

I am no expert on the Cornell admissions process, but my understanding is that they intend to send out 400 diversity hosting letters each year, and they sent out 400 diversity hosting letters already. I think they are finished with that process. @soulsurfer99

@DryMango, it can be difficult to keep up with these threads and I am not sure that the question is “mundane.” We need to keep these threads kind so people don’t feel afraid to ask questions. Could people do more close reading of this thread - probably, but so what?

@OnEdge2021 Normally I wouldn’t have responded so harshly, but the fact of the matter is that he/she asked a question that had been asked and answered three posts beforehand. I will try to be more kind in the future

@DryMango, all good. It is a tough time of year for many of us. I have not been this tense…well, ever actually. Be well everyone.

@Scholar1917 you asked cornell admissions if they were sending them out at random?

No, that’s just what I assume from what I’ve read here. Though I feel like I shouldn’t be bothering them right now to ask since they are at the end of their admissions cycle for this year and they’re already getting a mountain of calls, to be sure.
