****Cornell University Class of 2021 Regular Decision Thread****

Hey guys! How likely do you think I am getting into Cornell. I got a 1410 on new SAT (super low I know), but I’m ranked in the top 4% and have an incredible resumé with volunteer work, leadership positions, and awards. I also am in IB and had pretty good essays and great recs. Honestly, I don’t think I have a very high chance but I was just curious as to what you guys think…

BTW, sorry to throw this sudden ‘chance me’ on y’all!! :stuck_out_tongue:

@hopelessopus12 I wouldn’t be to worried about being rejected for such a silly thing. Remember, they look at everything. But if you’re really worried, I’m pretty sure you can go to the ACT website and it’ll allow you to see which scores you sent and how many. Best of luck!!!

@ibpoetrytea my friend got in ED with 26 ACT. don’t stress much.

@Jujuondatbeat Really?! Wow, I feel so much better!! Although your friend must have been a genius in other areas of the application

Not exactly. He probably had something someone in the committee defended. Just one single thing might make your case. But we never know. /:slight_smile:

hmm that’s true… thanks anyway!

it seems as if there are so many CALS applicants.
I barely see any CAS and CoE applicants

@KaleSeed mine says initiated too, I’m pretty sure it means we started it but not all the documents have been processed cuz they need us to re upload stuff or there was some type of error

I thought ILR released all its decisions earlier than the Ivy date . . . but it seems only a few got the early March acceptance letters. Does anyone know the percentage of acceptances that get sent out early in the month?

On my portal it says “initiated” for some financial aid items also. What does this mean? And the deadline was 2/15 oh gosh I’m freaking out

@ibpoetrytea I got in with a 30 ACT/1360 SAT via likely letter. Anything’s possible. Don’t stress and good luck.

When I try to look on my fin aid portal it says “inquiry access denied”. Lol.

At this point, I wouldn’t stress over the financial aid stuff until Thursday night…after your acceptance.

Thanks @PinkQuetzal9 ! I hope my essays were good though… My why CALS was pretty straightforward, but my personal statement was a bit more poetic

@ibpoetrytea, you suggest your SAT score of 1410 is “super low.” On what scale? It appears to me that your score falls into the range for the 25%-50% percentile (i.e., 1330-1530) of the class of 2020 (Fall 2016) according to the Common Data set. So if the SAT scores don’t radically improve for the class of 2021, I don’t think your scores are “super low”. But I suppose the SAT scores may vary quite a bit between Cornell colleges. I don’t think that level of detail is included in the Common Data Sets. Here is a link to the Cornell’s Common Data Sets for the last 18 years: http://irp.dpb.cornell.edu/common-data-set. Many other universities publish Common Data SETs.

Out of curiosity how many of you were contacted by CAAN for an alumni meeting?

Ik im going to get rejected for sure cuz my stats are no where near ivy league level & I don’t really mind getting rejected but it’s mainly my parents…

I was, but didn’t attend because I was busy. Still admitted with a likely letter.

@iamokay123 If you’re working to please someone else, you won’t end up happy with the results! Have you thought about where you want to go to school and what you want to do with your future?

I was contacted by CAAN (:
