Cornell University ED Chances?

Please give me a fair chance. This is my dream school :)

Unweighted GPA: 94.31
Weighted GPA: 96.01
ACT: 33
SAT II: 750 World History
AP Exams: World History (5), English Language (5), Environmental Science (4), US History (4). This year, I am taking Lit, Macro, and Statistics- possibly studying outside of school for Human Geo or Microeconomics.
National Honor Society, World Language Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society member

11 of my family members attended/are currently attending/worked at Cornell.
I have double legacy (both of my parents attended, and my father also attended the Johnson Business School at Cornell for his graduate studies). Besides that, I have four aunts and two uncles who attended. Both of my father's parents worked at Cornell, and my cousin is currently a freshman at Cornell.

I am a three sport varsity athlete and I am the captain of my school's varsity volleyball team. I have been a starter since I made the team sophomore year. I also do two seasons of track and field. During the winter, I am the only race walker on the team and I have won various awards for it; during the spring, I run 400s and on the 4x400 relay or 4x800 relay. I go wherever my coach needs me.

My biggest passion is photography, and I have displayed work in New York City and London. I won an international photography contest last year, and my work was featured in London's National Maritime Museum along with work from some of the contest's finalists. I was the only student in the competition- the rest of the entrants were adults. I also received a scholarship from a local member of Congress for my artwork (several thousand dollars) after entering into a prestigious competition. Additionally, my artwork has been featured in several newspapers, online, and on BBC News London.

I am also involved in my school's newspaper publication. I was heavily involved my freshman and sophomore years of high school and worked as the photography editor of the newspaper. However, as my schedule became busier and busier as sports ramped up, I did not continue photo editing the paper, but I still submitted many articles that I wrote.

Additionally, I am very involved in Tri-M Music Honor Society. I was elected to the executive board of the Tri-M Music Honor Society by my peers, and I was named the treasurer of the chorus department of my school by one of my teachers. As an underclassman, I also participated in a soloist program throughout my state and sang solos inside of my school's chorus program as well.

I have been very involved in the Spanish program at my school as a member of both Spanish Club and World Language Honor Society. In Spanish Club, my peers and I donated thousands of dollars to breast cancer research each year of my participation and also sponsored children from developing Latin American countries. In WLHS, my peers and I donated baby items (diapers, bottles, etc.) to underprivileged Latin American families and served as translators in a Spanish-speaking hospital. I am also a National Spanish Exam medalist and have received two awards from a local Spanish organization for my original Spanish poem and essay that I submitted.

Lastly, I am a student tutor. Several times a week, I tutor students in Spanish and world history who are struggling.

So, let me know what you think. I'm sure my grades are a little bit lower than the general applicant pool, but my grades have increased every year and the upward trend is good. I also have a ton of extracurriculars and I assume my legacy helps a little bit. Thank you!!! :)

While your GPA might be a little lower, your ACT is above average. Your entire family IS Cornell. It would seem very likely that you get accepted if you applied ED. With exceptional LORs and essays, I think you certainly have a shot.

Good chance!

Thank you both for replying so quickly  @viphan‌ @Renomamma‌

Anyone else?

I think you have a good shot. I don’t think the family thing matters much, but your scores are great for Cornell.

Mark my words, you will get in for sure. Double legacy, great GPA, good ACT, plus passion? Unless you majorly screw up your essays or something, there’s no way you won’t make it in ED round. The family thing matters a lot @princetonCSgirl

Which college are you applying to?

@Ranza123‌ the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Communications major

You have an excellent shot. I honestly would be surprised if you were waitlisted or rejected.

Since you are applying to Ag, are you a NY state resident?

Yes, I am from Long Island @sgopal
