What are my chances of getting into Cornell with a 1980 SAT and a 3.9 UW GPA? I am planning to apply early decision to human ecology and therefore don’t have time to retake or take the act. My EC are pretty good and I’ve taken AP’s and honors all through high. i just wanted to know if i even have a chance. Thank you!
Unhooked? No legacy or special admit such as athletics?
Think of it from admissions:
- what makes @ehssenior special?
- what does @ehssenior bring to the Cornell campus?
If you are simply one of many similar applicants that doesn’t stand out, and are unhooked - skip ED at Cornell
@ClarinetDad16 My hook would be my interest in medicine. I am Vice President for a chapter at our school for the local children’s hospital and i interned at a hospital internationally this summer. Also have other EC relating to medicine.
That isn’t a hook. A hook is recruited athlete, legacy, first generation college student. Things you either are or aren’t. Being VP of a Children’s Hospital chapter (?) is an EC. Pick an ED school that you’re in the range of that you’d be very happy at, but also stand a decent chance of admission.
While your work in medicine is nice, it won’t be a deciding factor in college admissions. Retake the SAT, aim for 2100+ and apply regular decision.
@ehssenior What major are you applying to in the College of Human Ecology?
