Hello guys! Hope it’s not too early to start a transfer thread for Spring 2018. So, is anyone applying to Cornell this spring? If If so, which college? I want to major in Info. Science in CALS. I’ll probably post my stats later, after more people do so Anyways, let’s get this thread going!
Hey! Thank you for making this!! Have you received your portal login information yet?
Also:
Applying to: ILR
GPA: 3.82
Major: History
EC’s: strong labor union and political experience
Rec’s: 9/10 including a Cornell professor, union manager, and provost
Essay 1: 8.5/10
ILR supplement: 10/10, reviewed by an ILR grad.
Hey, I’m applying to the CAS as an economics major. Did you guys send your SAT’s? I didn’t, I had a 2000 and felt it hurt my chances. Thoughts?
Hey @pickles289 what are the rest of your stats? That’ll help in chancing you
@ILRSLUG nope, were we supposed to get one?
@azimuthal I believe so, the director of admission for ILR (Ian) said it’d be sometime around the deadline. That way we can see if there’s anything we still need to submit or they’re waiting to receive
@ILRSLUG
Major: Economics Minor: Mathematics.
-Standing- sophomore.
-GPA: 3.8-institutional, 4.1-major. (Deans list, all semesters.)
-Honors Student.
-Events chair | Economics Club.
-Tech & Economic Analyst - Investors club.
-Golden Key International Honors Society (Top 15% of class).
-Intern abroad- International Business Development intern (S&T) at an investment bank in India (Summer 2017).
-Research project (informal) analyzing the effects and the behavior of remittances.
- Pretty strong (2 of them) recommendations (my project is under guidance from one of the recommenders)
CAS econ is super competitive but I guess that’s true of most Cornell programs.
@pickles289 This is fairly old but is somewhat commonly referred to:
http://dpb.cornell.edu/documents/1000156.pdf
But in general we’re competing for a very small number of spots. Guaranteed transfer options already have their seats almost completely guaranteed so our stats need to be near perfect (which yours seem to be) and our essays need to be very memorable. CAS seems more selective (src: combing through the 2015 thread and 2016 thread) than schools like ILR and SHA but all it comes down to is waiting to see.
I ended up sending my scores through the rush report option. @ILRSLUG
@pickles289 I’m so sorry, I totally forgot the original question about sending scores and thought you were just asking for a ‘chance me’. However I do think sending scores was the right choice. 2000 is a goos score and it supports your really high college GPA.
Just an update for future applicants, it looks like applicant ID’s went out today around 8AM west coast time (10/20) however not all the information I sent has been received yet.
Yea, I just got mine. @ILRSLUG
@pickles289 Does it say they’ve received any of your transcripts? It doesn’t for me even though I sent them months ago
@ILRSLUG It says they haven’t received my college transcripts or my high school transcripts.
@ILRSLUG @pickles289 same here
Anyone know when rolling decisions are gonna start coming in?
@wilco9997 They should start rolling out during the third week of November
Decided to finally make an account after checking the Fall 2017 Transfer thread for what felt like 100 times a day last spring. I’m reapplying to ILR and may post my stats later.
@ILRHopeful Hey fellow ILR! Do you think it’ll just be portal decisions or potentially phone calls too? I’m guessing decisions will be the week of the 19th for ILR but it’s a total guess.
