@Lxeee224 Congrats! thanks for sharing!
@Lxeee224 congrats!!!
@Lxeee224 Congrats!! I’m applying ILR too and had a couple of questions. Was your decision posted on your portal or did you receive a phone call? Also what were your stats if you don’t mind sharing?
@Lxeee224 Congrats!
Hey guys, can anyone chance me if the decision is out on 21st?
Applying for CAS Math
Currently sophomore in #40-50 public college
GPA: 4.0 for 40 credits in a really general curriculum in sciences, liberal arts and business subjects
Mid-term Report: A A A A A
Rec: Two. One is from calculus professor
EC: Really not much shiny in college. Some volunteer services in college, some clubs and national honor society
High School: I did not submit old SAT because it is really low. GPA around 3.8. USAMO qualifier.
@Chiriank Biggest thing they’re looking for is fit, so I guess the most important question (since your stats are great) is what’s the biggest reason for you transferring?
@ILRSLUG Thank you! And I received a phone call, completely wasn’t expecting it. Stat wise, I’m coming from a top 50 school with a relatively high GPA, I think it was my essays that got me in honestly. I really emphasized about a topic I’m really passionate about and specifically why I was passionate about it, definitely 10/10 for essay and probably 9/10 for recs (Had 3). I think I showed a genuine interest and great fit for the school, something I think played a big factor in my acceptance. Best of luck to you!
anyone know if decisions are coming out over the weekend too? looool
@Lxeee224 did Ian mention when online decisions will be out?
why do some ppl get phone calls?
@CTProsp118 It’s an ILR thing, a lot of the accepted ILR applicants will get a call from Ian who’s the associate director of admissions. Last year he made calls on the Friday and the Sunday before decisions began. I’m guessing there will be more phone calls tomorrow with actual portal updates on Tuesday
@IRLSLUG gotcha. Thanks for clarifying. guess I just have to wait for the email haha
@ILRSLUG Thank you. I mention in essay that I do not feel like business is my stuff so I decide to transfer to a math or science subject although I have taken 10 credit of core business courses. I also mention that I do not like the huge classes and lack of attention with profs in huge public school. Is that considered fit in an ivy?
Stress diversion: does anyone here watch the Office? Apparently the actor who played Andy Bernard did a speech at Cornell haha
any news you guys?
Do you guys think we should all hear back from Cornell by this coming up Tuesday? I am referring to those who applied to CAS!
hope so! im getting so anxious
I think some of us should definitely hear Tuesday! Either way, we either find out in time to rest easy over Thanksgiving… break, or have break as distraction to not having found out yet! I know it sounds corny but it can help to make a list of 5 things you are thankful for whenever you are stressed, for perspective. Also, mentally working through what would happen if you don’t get in and how you will feel.
Sounds like a plan! I love this thread, everyone is so supportive and helpful. Its comforting to know there are other people going though the same thing, that is on my list for sure
anyone from CALS hear back yet???
