Cornell University summer college

Is this program very selective?
(lol why am i even asking this, this is an ivy...)
w.e plz just gimme some feedback about this program
I don't wanna waste time applying to something that is impossible for me to get in, since i only have like 3.75 uw GPA and 30 ACT...

I don't think it's highly selective and going to that program boosts your chances of getting into Cornell--sorta.

You have good stats, I don't see a need for you to worry.

lol thx
that kinda gimme confidence XDXD

^^is it really going to boast the chance of getting into cornell?

TT.TT Competition~ lol jkjk
i guess that's the number one reason why ppl r doing summer programs lol

I could have sworn that a while back I read on their website that it did. If I find it, I'll post it on here :)

Although being accepted into summer college does not mean getting into Cornell, it does boost your chances. I have heard that some teachers can write recommendations and it also helps with your "why cornell" essay...
I am probably going to attend too...Hotel Operations Management...which program do you think you would like to do?

im considering to apply...but something bothers me....im from New York ,and therefore i have to take regents exam in June. (summer college starts in June)i know i can take the regents exam in cornell, but how about if there is no more space for me?does it mean that i cant go to summer college bc i have to take the regents exam?

wait:

SC is not very selective, so you'll get in.

YP: there are literally hundreds of New Yorkers who attend SC. They know about Regents and make it happen.

it's not very selective at all don't worry
I went last year and had classmates who had 3.4s and stuff so don't worry.
I remember lots of kids who were absent for part of a day 'cause they had to take their regents, don't worry Cornell totally understands and accommodates for it

wait if it's not very selective, why does it boost your chances? wouldn't Cornell want better kids (not saying that none of you are, i'm just trying to demystify this).

because I got in too, but will the program will help me get into school other ivy league schools like Columbia or high tier schools like NYU?

sorry for the grammar mistakes

for the summer college, they ask me for the PSAT scores....but i did really bad .. i got a 165.is it going to significantly hurt my chance????

erm, i actually can't say...
BUT
if you do well on the personal statements and you teacher recs are phenomenal then there's no reason to be concerned. Be sincere and try to represent yourself well in the statements.
I'm already in for the 2009 summer and I think my statements really got my foot in through the door.
Spend some time on them; your personality should shine through.
hope that helps :)

yay! i just got my acceptance notice!
does it really say on the website that it boosts your chances?? I sure hope so^^ but if it does, I’m also wondering why that is, if it isn’t very selective…
I’m also applying for LBW at Penn which is really selective, so I don’t know if I’ll go yet…

My daughter attended 3 weeks of summer college last year and had a fabulous experience. When we arrived to drop her off they had a speakers at the large assembly hall greeting the students and giving speeches. There were hundreds of students. They specifically mentioned that they turned down many kids who applied, so I would say that the program is selective. However, I think that depends on what course you are taking. My daughter took “Art as an Experince” which only had about 18 students and clearly could have accomodated a few more, so no I don’t think that program was as selective as others, such as (for example) the architecture program. My daughter mentioned that stuidents taking other classes had tons of homework and in particular, the architcture students in the 6 week class worked really hard. That being said, there was plenty of time for fun.

Interestingly, my daughter applied ED to Arts and Science as a biology major and was accepted. Did attending Summer college help? I think so because she really was able to write her “Why Cornell?” essay from the heart about why she really felt it was the place for her. Out of her friends that went to summer college (all taking different classes, but I am speaking primarily of the art and architecture students)that applied ED, all of them were accepted except one, who was outright denied.

In my opinion, my daughter attending summer college helped her gain admission. However, she did have high stats, high SATS and good EC, so it could have been those reasons. But based on the other students who attended SC who were also accepted ED, I think SC helps.

Anyone going to Cornell Summer College in 2013???

got accepted and am seriously considering it. r u going?

yea lol, I’m doing the Biological Research and Health Professions program… you? :)
