Hi. I am a rising senior at an inner city arts magnet high school and am applying early decision to Cornell.
I have a 4.0 GPA and am in the top 10% of my class. My SAT score is a 1170. My math score is 550 and my reading + writing is 620. I received a 520 on my SAT subject test in literature and a 480 on my SAT subject test in mathematics level 1. I also am a member of the National Honors Society at my high school.
Some of my extra curricular’s include tutoring, debate, mock trial, graduation band, painting with expression, and multi cultural exploration.
The APs I took throughout high school was AP Literature and Composition, AP US Government and Politics, AP US History, AP Statistics, and AP Language and Composition.
I have also been doing an Internship at a local theater as an usher for 2 years.
My intended Major for college is Animal Science/Pre-veterinary medicine.
My Essay topic for the common application is the fact I am a quadruplet and how I have come to be independent in my own ways and discover a personal identidy.
Side notes: I am a white, female with an Irish and Italian background.
First off, I think your GPA and ECs are great. Your essay topic is unique as well and you’ve taken a good amount of APs. I think those portions of your application are good to go.
However, your standardized test scores need some work. You should try improving your Math and Reading scores to the 650+ level. Also, most student applicants have 700+ SAT IIs.; your 2 SAT IIs are on the low side.
Hello! I’m glad that you are so ambitious! I too trying to get into a prestigious school, and my advice is to use these next few months to study for the SAT in October, or the ACT in September. I would also suggest not sending/retaking your SAT IIs so that you can focus on whatever test you decide to take in the fall (if you follow my advice). I would also mention and join any leadership positions that you have interest in.
