It seems like many people here are at Cornell, so I guess I'll just post for anyone who cares to answer. I'll be a premed freshman at Cornell this coming school year, which classes should I take and which professor should I avoid because of their killer grading system or other reasons? Appreciate any advice.

Median grade reports for Cornell are published online. You can use median grades to access a class's difficulty although median grades alone can be deceptive.

As for what classes you should take:

Freshman year:
Intro bio (Bio 101-104)
Gen chem (either Chem 207/208 or 215/216)

Sophomore year:
Orgo (either Chem 357/358 or 359/360)
Physics (either Physics 101/102 or 207/208)
Some choose to take either orgo or physics their junior year

Those are the basic req's. You should also take writing classes (which your writing seminars should cover), English classes, some sort of calc and statistics class and Cornell recommends that you take Chem 251 (which is orgo lab) your sophomore year or later.

Here's what I've taken in 3 years at Cornell:
Freshman year:
Bio 101-104 (intro bio)
Chem 215-216 (honors gen chem)
Math 213 (multivariable calc)
Math 221 (linear algebra w/ differential eq's)
One writing seminar (placed out of the other one)

Sophomore year:
Chem 357-358 (orgo)
Chem 251 (orgo lab)
Bio 278 (evol. bio)
Physics 101-102 (general physics)
Bio 332 (2nd sem. biochem)

Junior year:
Bio 331 (1st sem biochem)
Bio 281 (genetics)
Bio 432 (molecular/cell bio)
Bio 440 (molecular/cell bio/biochem lab)
Engl 324
Math 171 (statistics)

Senior year 1st sem (signed up to take):
Bio 290 (microbio-probably the easiest bio class at Cornell)
Bio 631 (graduate course on protein folding)

How was Evolutionary Biology? I am planning to take that

It's alright. Not too hard. Unfortunately, I got a B in that class (my only B in a bio course) :(

Where do I find the median grade report?

Isn't Cornell one of the hardest ivies with a lot of grade deflation?

That's why my mom's afraid I wouldn't make it to medical school.
