Cornell v. Dartmouth

Hey guys! Congrats on all of your acceptances! I'm sure we're all glad the wait is over:]
So, I got accepted/waitlisted into several schools, but I'm mainly focusing on Cornell and Dartmouth. I'm leaning more towards Cornell to be honest, but I'm not sure. I just wanted to see some external opinions. What do you guys think? What are some possible things I should consider (pros/cons)? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

I’m going to Cornell next year but I live in New Hampshire and I have friends that go to Dartmouth. One thing you need to ask yourself is how much do you want to be involved in Greek Life? If it’s a lot Dartmouth really is your place. That being said there have been some incidents with hazing recently that have gained a lot of attention. They were acquitted of anything and here’s a news article for more information:

Another thing to consider is your major. Cornell has a better engineering program (Dartmouth has a BA while Cornell has a BS which is something to consider). Cornell also has a lot more majors as options just due to the “any person any study” motto.

Size is something else you may want to think about. Dartmouth is tiny while Cornell isn’t. If you think you’d fit in better at a large school then I think Cornell is definitely for you.

Ultimately it is entirely your decision and you will end up successful regardless of which school you chose. I’d recommend visiting both one last time then proceed with making your decision.

to be honest, I am in fact leaning towards Cornell. It’s cheaper for in state residents, and I plan on majoring in Biophysics with a minor in French and to go on the pre-med track. I’ve always been a person who loves big places, and Greek life isn’t my thing. But I’m going to check out both, thanks so much for the help, and maybe I’ll see you at Cornell in the fall!

I hope so and good luck with the decision process!
