So.. I haven't really seen any threads about this, but I was wondering if anyone else was thinking about applying for Early Acceptance at Cornell's Vet School? I actually only recently found out about this opportunity. You can apply at the end of your Sophomore year to be accepted to attend their Vet School once you graduate undergrad, and I'm a freshman right now, so I'm determined to start preparing for it now and at least give it a shot next year. My horrible premonition is that I'll graduate from undergrad only to be rejected from all the vet schools (which as I hear, isn't too uncommon a thing to happen) so I want to give this a shot, at least for practice. I just wanted to see if anyone else was thinking about this, or if anyone else has perhaps applied and either gotten accepted/rejected and has any advice to offer??

I am also interested in veterinary science, so I looked this up... from what i've found, it's EXTREMELY competitive... so much so that it's almost easier to get accepted from the regular vet admission.
However, there's also very little to lose... so you should definitely try it.

Yeah I assumed it would be, especially since Cornell has such a great vet school. Oh man, but that would be such a load off of my mind if I was accepted and could know vet school was finally a certainty....

My sister is in her first year of vet science at cornell so I can field questions. Very very few soph get guarentee accepted. They want ppl with experience and lots of it. Any more questions just pm cuz I prob wont look back in this thread

N I mean grad school

My daughter was accepted to a similar program at the College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University in the fall of 2007. You are correct that admission to such programs (there are about 5 offered by various vet schools in the U.S.) is extremely competitive, but you have nothing to lose by applying. Very few applicants to these programs get in, and afitscher is correct that, in addition to stellar academic credentials, lots and lots of experience working with animals is required. My daughter had logged more than 4,000 documented hours of work experience with animals at the time of her application.

I am applying this summer for early admission to the vet school. Is anyone else? Anyone know anyone who has been accepted early?

Ill be applying in the upcoming year for it, though wow - I definitely only have around 400 hours of experience at the moment. I need to get on getting some more…

How did you do on the GRE exam? I am so nervous to apply. Are you from New York? It would be cool if we got accepted.

Did anyone apply this summer 2009 for early admission to Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine?
