Cornell vs Berkeley

I've been accepted into Cornell and Berkeley (w/ Regents). I think I will major in Econ and/or Business and was wondering several things. First, which has the better programs/social atmosphere/job placement and internship opportunities. How much better is Cornell than Berkeley in terms of prestige? And is Cornell worth the 25k extra a year + ****ty weather?

thanks

Its up to you, and where you'll be happy. Yea, Cornell might be more prestigious, but in the end its more than just about prestige. Berkeley is a great school.

At Berkeley, you have to apply to Hass school of Business and have to get in, during your sophomore year. I heard that the program is quite competitive to get into and only top performing students are admitted into the program.

But, you can major in Econ at Berkeley, which is still top notch. The question you should ask yourself is not which school has better rank or program, since both are excellent. Ask yourself which college campus/social scene/ location you prefer. Also, you should consult w/ your parents about their financial status and judge if extra 25k for Cornell is realistic/ideal for your family.

how is Econ at Cornell in comparison to Berkeley?

The Econ department at Cornell is really strong, and you have the option of taking AEM courses, which has recently been ranked #4 and #1 in finance (Yes, above Wharton)
