CORNELL vs. CMU vs. GTECH

Okay so I'm applying for Material Science and Engineering and I'm thoroughly confused.

Cornell is an Ivy League and filled with amazing opportunities. I heard the people there are easy to get along with. I'm not that social (in terms of parties and stuff) but I really want to try out that stuff in college (and Cornell's party scene isnt bad at all). However, Ithaca is not that accessible and getting to campus might be trouble.

CMU is an adorable school and is also very good in engineering. Accessibility is better and it overall seems like a nice place. The party scene isnt great there apparently, and I'm not sure if thats a good or bad thing

Georgia tech is rated the highest in my field (but all three are in the top ten anyways). Also accessibility is great and I know some people in the area and friends going there so I won't be all alone.

I just really want to go somewhere where I can be challenged, but not so much that I crack under the pressure. I also want to make friends easily (somewhere where the people are pretty nice and easy to get along with) and I want to be happy.

WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK?!?!?!

It would help to know where you are from and whether you are male or female.

I would suggest Cornell since you refer, indirectly, to the desire for breadth of experience. They run buses to Syracuse airport at break time so it’s not quite as inaccessible as it looks. As an Ivy, it has a much more balanced student body.

I’m from India.
I’ve been leaning towards Cornell too, but thanks!

Super choices, can’t go wrong. I’d say Cornell too for the whole package. Though the weather in Atlanta would be much more attractive.

All three are GREAT schools and you will get an excellent academic education in all three places.
that said, education is not only academic. College is a place where you will shape yourself as a person. What sort of person would you like to be. Look at current alumni from all three schools, who do you most identify with? Also, maybe listen to commencement speeches. They tend to give you a picture of what you will be like after 4 years. Is that the sort of person you would like to be?
This is a time for introspection, as I said earlier. So take the time to understand yourself and your INDIVIDUAL goals.
