To put it simply, I'm torn between these two amazing colleges. I want to study government/political science, so I'm naturally inclined to go to Georgetown, but Cornell is very tantalizing. Any thoughts/comments/suggestions?

Yeah, go to Cornell, Georgetown's Political Science is small, not that highly regarded and limited. Cornell has an amazing Political Science department. Now if you got into Georgetown's SFS and you intend to major in IR, than Georgetown may be your best option. But if you wish to study Political Science, go for Cornell.

i don't know much about political science. Of course i'm biased for Cornell, but a classmate of mine is going to Gtown for political science, and i guess a main draw is Gtown's in the nation's capital. But other than that, I don't know how Gtown could be a better choice.

Cornell is a better overall school than Georgetown. Since you might change your major a few times, I say go to Cornell, but it is cold there. If you are really seriouse about political science there is probably no better place than G-town. That is one of their strongest departments, and the connections you make in a city can be very valuable for the road ahead. But I say Cornell or something else... simply because hardly anybody that majors in PS actually works in the field.
