Cornell vs. georgia tech

Ithaca and the surrounding area is a food and drink paradise.

Go to GTech. Cornell is not worth the $20k per year more for an undergrad degree in any Engg. discipline. GTech has D1 sports and campus life is good, with easy access to what the city has to offer. And the weather is much more favorable.

My D2 just completed her 1st year at GTech. The only schools that she applied to that had such high tuition (as the Ivies) were MIT and Stanford, she did not make it to either. Finally her choice came down to UCB, UMich and GTech for ChemE. We are from PA, though have moved to NYC since.

Just wanted to add - D2 will be a 3rd generation Engineer, both my dad and I studied Mech. Engg.

Apply to both. Georgia Tech is a public institution, so you can apply early action while also applying to early decision to Cornell. If the FA package from Cornell doesn’t work out, you can withdraw your application and go to Georgia Tech.

If you only have time to visit one, visit Cornell and then use the internet to find out all you can about Georgia Tech and the vibe there(I recommend Qurora as a starting point).
