I'm trying to decide between Geneseo and and Cornell. Aside from the huge financial perks (Geneseo costs half of what Cornell would be), I also was accepted into the Medical Program at Geneseo, which means SUNY Upstate Medical University has saved me a spot in their class of 2017 if I maintain a 3.5 in the prerequisites for med. school- no MCATs, no applications, no interviews, etc.

However, I really love Cornell (human ecology! HBHS major!) a lot lot lot... so I'm struggling to pick one.

If you choose SUNY over Cornell, you’ll be saving a lot of money and have a guaranteed spot for medical school, but you won’t be able to experience everything that is Cornell. I don’t think you really need to worry about medical school admissions. If you were accepted by the program, you will most likely continue to do well in college and get into a medical school after. It’s not impossible to get into medical school.

If money is really important for you, I would go to SUNY. If it isn’t, I would choose Cornell.

Well, considering you were already accepted into Medical School, I suspect that being accepted into Medical School again will not be a problem for you.

If money is a huge consideration, than Geneseo is a great option. But otherwise, it sounds like you might always be wondering what would have happened had you attended Cornell.

And there are other cool med school programs you can apply to, like UB’s early acceptance program:

Throw out the guaranteed Med School. It comes down to fit and finances. Do you want a small campus in a very small town? Would you be more comfortable in a big University in a College town? Can u afford choice 2 if that’s your preference. If you can’t and you can see yourself at a small college, Geneseo is a nice affordable option. Interesting final two.

What is your financial aid package for Cornell? The cost difference may be a lot less than what is first appears. Cornell is an awesome place…world class…the experience of a lifetime. Do you want the quintessential small college, small college town experience of Geneseo or the much larger universe of Cornell?

If it wasn’t for the guaranteed admit to med school, I’d say definitely go to Cornell, even if it costs more $. However, getting into Med school isn’t that easy, and it’s getting more competitive every year. Not to mention that studying for the MCATs isn’t what I’d call fun. If you know that you want to go to med school, then Geneseo is a great opportunity. If after 3 years you find that you want to go to med school somewhere other than upstate NY, you can always apply elsewhere.

If you get a 3.5 at Cornell, I am confident that you will be admitted to medical school and perhaps at some top-flight ones. You will then need to do the other things, mcat, etc., but I think you should not write off Cornell–unless $$$ is a big factor.

You may also decide that med school is not for you…
