Ahhhh! It's getting too close to the deadline and I still haven’t made my decision ><

I'm currently choosing between Cornell and UIUC, and I'm planning to major in Environmental Engineering.

Does anyone know how Cornell's engineering would compare to UIUC’s?

Really appreciate any sort of advice you may be able to give... Thanks for helping out!

UIUC has a great engineering program (don’t know about environmental).
People I know who’ve gone there have been very accomplished, smart and successful.

Though I might have seen only people from the top of the class there, that’s possible.

It will put you in good stead for accessing Chicago-area engineering jobs, that’s for sure.

Great school, my guess is it might orient you a bit more regionally, more towards subsequent opportunities in the midwest than Cornell would.

Hiya! First of all, I was briefly in the same boat as you, but as I definitely could not afford to pay out of state tuition for UIUC, I’m ultimately deciding between Cornell and another school.

As for engineering, I was really excited because Urbana-Champaign has such a good program. I was accepted for environmental engineering at both too. As monydad mentioned, I don’t know how much about their environmental program, but UIUC has a very good overall program; on the other hand, Cornell is very well-rounded and pretty strong in life sciences I believe. If you go by “ranking”, Cornell’s program is lower than UIUC’s, but I’ve never really figured out how they calculate those.

Best of luck in making a decision!

Thanks monydad and brokenpiano for your advice!

I decided on Cornell in the end, and I think it shouldn’t disappoint!

:)

Good choice! I picked Cornell as well…haha.

I hate U of I, but UIUC engineering is GOOD
