Cornell vs UMich

I know there are other threads out there about this. But I'd like some help in terms of my own circumstances.
Major: Engineering, electrical/mechanical, business minor if possible
Prefer easy access with professors to work on research projects.
FAFSA EFC: 5000
Cornell: No loans, work study, 7k efc, 2k student contribution
UMich: $4500 unsub stafford loan, no work study, no efc, no student contrib.

Obviously UMich has the better offer here. And after my freshmen year I could probably get a better deal for both schools renting an apartment. The engineering capabilities of both schools are essentially equal. But which one, in terms of overall college experience, student network and job opportunities is better for the price?

Thanks for the help
