Which school is better? And why?

Troll 10

All right... in general Cornell IS "Ivy League" and a very, very prestigious school. So, the answer IS Cornell. But better for YOU or for many people, well, that's personal. Some may want that Gator pride.

Personally, I wouldn't want to go to either, but yeah....

Cornell.

Florida has some very prestigious programs going on and its incredibly hard to get into now. Its rapidly becoming another UNC-Chapel Hill, which is why UCF and USF have gained notoriety...mostly from kids who didnt get into Florida. Florida is an awesome school. The weather, obviously, is completely different than Cornell.

I would favor Cornell, but then again, if you are a Florida resident and get in...that is a very tough school to turn down because its so cheap for the quality of education you will receive.

not even a comparison

Forget these other schools, go to Harvard. Even if you don't get in, just wander around campus for four years and pretend is still good enough.

Cornell is overrated and not that prestigious in my eyes

As a Floridian, UF is like th god school. lol. I would rather go to UF rather than Cornell for 2 reasons. 1) More fun with a fantastic education and 2) If I would get in, it would be free because of the Bright Futures scholarship for Floridian students. Thank God for IB :).

Obviously a troll post, but I did apply to both.

GO GATORS!

Yeah, like most people said, Cornell is higher up on those lists. But I also applied at UF. I'm willing to go out-of-state, and well, since I'm not a Floridian, I don't qualify for the Bright Futures Scholarship... But I'd still love to go there! The campus was gorgeous. But then... I'm also an IB student. And they offer amazing IB credit. Do what's best for you. I'd just focus on that...

Cornell is better.

Because I live in California, I would go to UCLA or UC Bekeley instead of UF(I didn't apply there).
If I were admitted to Cornell, I would enthusiatically accepted their offer.

It depends where you want to live most of your life...

If it's in the Northeast thru DC, go Cornell. If it's Virginia through Louisiana, go Florida. Alumni connections later are better than undergraduate prestige.

I don't think you can really compare the two but each is great in your own right.

Obviously Cornell is Cornell, and for engineering its pretty much up there with MIT and such. Only drawback to Cornell is that its in the middle of nowhere :(

But Florida's the best University in the state of Florida, and If you do Bright Futures you can get a full ride essentially, that, and it has elite sports teams and lots of parties and a huge campus.

I loved Cornell when I visited...NYU and Cornell were the only schools I considered besides UF...but since I applied to UF ED, there really wasn't a point in applying to either...They're both great schools, but I just couldn't resist Bright Futures, tons of IB credit, the warm weather, and that Gator pride. :)
Obviously Cornell is ranked higher than UF, but what really matters is which school will be best for you (yes, it may sound cliche, but it's true!).

I think both schools are great . I applied to both schools ,but decided that Cornell was the better school for me. It was not because of prestige but because of fit. I think you should go where you will be most comfortable and happy. Remember though, Cornell is an ivy!
