I'v been accepted to Cornell, UVA, and Duke. I want to major in Biological/biomedical engineering for undergrad to prepare for medical school. any suggestions on which college?

For biomedical engineering? Not a question. You should be packing your bags for Durham, NC. Duke's excels in this field and there are tons of research opportunities due to the research triangle there. Placement at medical school is also exceptional. Check out some of the archived post about BME in the Duke forum.

what would you say for someone wanting to eventually go to law school? UVA or Cornell?

Law school admissions have a great deal to do with your LSAT exam score, something to do with your GPA, and not much to do with which of those two colleges you attend.

Very close call!

All the 3 campuses are, in my opinion, beautiful.

Academics, once again, all the 3 have stellar professors.

Bio-mdeical - conventional wisdom - Duke

Law School - UVA places much higher percentage to top Law Schools

Some points, I gathered while researching these schools:

UVA students are extremely well-knit and are passionate about their school traditions.

Cornell, partly due to its location, is not able to get the best employers to recruit the undergrads. Career Services is a matter of concern!

Duke, beyond the campus, has less to offer in terms of social life.

However, these may not be very major points while deciding on a school.

Are you just pulling that stuff out of your ass, Rintu? UVA gets the most kids to top law schools? Cornell doesn't have good recruitment? Christ.

" 4. Law School - UVA places much higher percentage to top Law Schools"

what's UVA's percentage? Cornell's is 89% - among the very best in the US.

"- Cornell, partly due to its location, is not able to get the best employers to recruit the undergrads. Career Services is a matter of concern!"

This is complete BS. Really. Cornell is a quick trip to NYC, has its med school in NYC, and the "Cornell club" is also in NYC. Employers not wanting to take the quick trip just go here. Cornell is closer to the major cities of Boston, NY, Philly, possibly DC (though Cornell has a very popular washington DC program) than UVA and Duke are to these major employer hubs. When you looks at the list of who recruits at Cornell, it's really phenominal. Unless, of course, you want to work in Durham.

I'd choose either Cornell or Duke unless maybe u r planning to live in-state after u go to UVA.

Ya I donno where that guy got that info...Cornell is def much better than that. I'm not even gonna look but I bet he goes to UVA.
