I don’t know about this year. In 2021, around 7,800 were put on the waitlist and only 24 eventually got off the list. They did offer some Transfer Options.

What was their yield last year? Hard to know without that.

Do students offered a spot off the waitlist generally get transfer option?

Do you know how many of those confirmed their place on the waitlist?

It was 64.3%, which was higher than a typical year around 60%. Most top schools were overenrolled last year. That also explains why so limited number of students got off the waitlist. I am afraid that the trend may continue.

5,800 confirmed. It’s a higher percentage, 75%, than average as well.

I haven’t seen any information about that. Cornell typically takes 600-700 transfers a year, mostly in the fall. Given the overall transfer acceptance rate of 16-17%, acceptance rate for TO is basically 100% and some TO recipients may not take it, I would imagine that the TO offered may be no more than 500. This is a pure speculation! Some of them have been given out on 3/31.

My D22 was waitlisted to CALS. Do most people send in a letter to their AO with continued interest?

If your D is till interested, it’s a good idea to send in a LOCI. From my son’s experience, we believe the LOCI was considered in the final decision.

Did your son make it off the waitlist?

He was not admitted, while he was offered a Transfer Option. Only 24 students got off the waitlist out of 5,800.

That’s amazing for him! Do the TOs count towards to 24 students or are they in addition?

They were not counted as admitted students off the list.

The email they sent literally said not to send a LOCI

Sorry, my experience was from last year. Probably they have made some changes this year. It’s then more straightforward.
