Quick question: why is everyone saying we’d receive a call to be offered admission? Isn’t an email more likely? What happens if we miss the call?
typically they AOs call before they email… if you miss the call they’ll just email you and leave a voice message
how many received the email from A&S?
did anyone from CAS not receive an email ?
Anyone heard from Humec?
I don’t believe humec has reached out to anyone yet
@kat123203 I’m in CAS and didn’t get an email. I assume this means no for me.
Shoot I am now hearing that the New York chartered schools give strong preference to New York Residents. Is this like applying in state or something? I thought they keep a 2/3rd 1/3rd ratio?
so 2/3rd to instate waitlist students?
@kat123203 I’m in CAS and did not receive an email either. OOS, international
I don’t know if the email everyone is referring to is the same as I received yesterday? Mine just talks about suggestions for expressing my continued interest in the school, but its not a definite acceptance. I haven’t written my LOCI yet but I plan to send one in today. For context, I applied to the College of Engineering and I’m a NY resident
@Brasssection259 - Curious if the email from CoE stated that you were “in a group of students at the top of the waitlist”? That’s what the CAS email stated.
@Brasssection259 Would you mind posting the email? I am also a NY resident who applied to the College of Engineering but I didn’t get an email. I assumed that only CAS emailed people yesterday since I only saw CAS people talking about it. Sounds like you maybe got a different email though?
Edit: BTW I submitted a LOCI back around April 13th, so I’m wondering if maybe the email was sent out to people who didn’t send LOCIs so that the CoE can gauge their interest?
Has anyone heard from CALS yet?
today is over. waiting for tomorrow…
@happinessmatters @yoyoyorar the email as follows:
Dear …,
I hope you are doing well. I am reaching out with some guidance that you may find helpful. In the case that Cornell decides to select students from the wait list after May 1, the admissions directors will be looking for students who have continued to show interest in Cornell since accepting a spot on the waiting list in early April. If you were not aware that it is appropriate and helpful for waitlisted students to maintain contact with Cornell Admissions and send pertinent updates, I want to encourage you to do so now. As a reminder, if you remain interested in attending Cornell, you are welcome to demonstrate this by updating your file before this Friday.
If you desire, you are welcome to add to your application file one or more of the items listed below by using the Upload Materials section of your application status portal and selecting Waitlist Correspondence as the material type.
Items you may want to add to your file by Friday, May 1:
-
a note about your continued enthusiasm for attending Cornell should you be offered the opportunity to come off of the wait list
-
a note about relevant academic and personal updates (i.e. new courses, awards/honors, responsibilities, hobbies)
-
an additional brief letter of recommendation (the person can also email their letter to me at diversity@cornell.edu)
If you have questions, please feel free to reply to this message.
Warm regards,
Alyssa

@Brasssection259 Ah ok, thank you for sharing. From what I've heard on reddit, the few CAS people who were emailed were specifically asked to fill out some form. One person posted the email they got:
Dear [My first name],
Greetings from Cornell University!
The College of Arts & Sciences is currently preparing for potential waitlist activity in May and you are in a group of students at the top of our list. At this time—and before we start re-reviewing applications—we would like to confirm that you remain interested in attending Cornell in the fall semester.
To confirm your continued interest in Cornell, please fill out this brief form by midnight (EDT) Friday, May 1st. If we do not hear from you, we will consider other candidates for any spots that may become available in the A&S Class of 2024.
We look forward to hearing from you soon and send you all best wishes from Ithaca,
Yours sincerely,

It seems like CoE did not send out a similar form/email. Best of luck though, I hope we both get in
would it be bad to email admissions with a loci right now? i already sent one through my portal, but i never directly sent anything to admissions. would an email directly to admissions reiterating my interest make me look bad?
@grapegrape I think it’s sufficient to have your loci in your portal already!
CAS students who received the email—did you get an email confirmation or anything after submitting the survey? I submitted mine and am pretty sure it went through. However, getting paranoid that they didn’t receive it, but don’t wanna annoy them by sending it twice. Good luck to everyone!
