Cornell Waitlist Class of 2024

Did he get an email from Cornell saying he was at the top of the waitlist?

I asked CAS if this round of taking off waitlist is done. They replied : Weā€™re not sure when the students will hear about their decisions again, as they are going out sporadically.

@gwang968 thanks for sharing! god luck, everyone. This may be a special bonding for those that get into Cornell. -

Nope. But donā€™t think HumEc does that. I think CAS and Engineering do that.

HumEc doesnā€™t send top of the list emails, if/when they decide to take you off, you will probably receive a call first

so i guess engineering yield is higher than expected, really dont think there r gonna be any mass waves or anything coming up :frowning:

@hpwang1014 @benandjerrys101 @happinessmatters @chickennoodlesoupppppp @JimmyHart

Here is my theory for CAS. The admissions team is no longer together due to the virus. Therefore, they are unable to work together to send a typical ā€œwaveā€ of waitlist acceptances. Since each admissions officer is isolated. They just send out acceptances whenever they feel like it. It may be regional, as several from Connecticut were admitted.

@hpwang1014 said CAS waitlist decisions are going out sporadically. This is probably because each admissions officer is just doing their own thing in the wake of the pandemic situation.

This combined with the email response I received that we were ā€œdefinitelyā€ still being considered, enforces my point.

I doubt they would send us all the ā€œtop of listā€ email if they werenā€™t seriously considering us favorably. It would just make no sense for them to include that information. So stay peachy, guys. I anticipate good news.

Ciao for now.

no, did this happen for some people??

hey guys iā€™ve been following this thread for weeks now but was always too lazy to actually make an account lol. but i was waitlisted at Dyson and it was really upsetting to hear that they only had 5 spots remaining yesterday, as i still have yet to hear back from them. i might just have to call it quits but i was also waitlisted at nyu stern so iā€™m still keeping my hopes up for that!

@benandjerrys101 iā€™m also committed to university of michigan! wouldā€™ve loved to attend cornell tho
@billyof123 iā€™m committed to umich but i know someone going to northeastern haha

@inatlus33 I have also been following this thread for a while and I am also waitlisted at Dyson. Since there is only 5 spots, I think it is pretty much over sadly. Were you offered Transfer Option? And I think NYU Stern has already contacted people today, few of my friends got off the waitlist today. Good luck though. I really just want to get into Dyson freshman year instead of later.

@RoaringLion nope i wasnā€™t offered a transfer option. and yeah iā€™ve been reading this and the nyu threads religiously lol but iā€™m still trying to stay optimistic that at least stern will have more waves :frowning:

Has anyone heard anything about ILR?

@gwang968 Your theory sounds so good and very realistic!! I hope thatā€™s the case guys!!! From what I know, Cornell hasnā€™t sent out ā€œtop of the waitlistā€ emails ever (maybe they did long ago lol) so itā€™s gotta mean something?

I donā€™t want to get toooooo optimistic, but letā€™s stay positive

All the ones who got off waiting list received the top list letter?

Really fricken bummed cause I didnā€™t even get the CAS ā€œtop of the listā€ email in the first place :(ā€¦good luck to those who did tho!

@.CALS applicants. Should we try to call CALS admissions to see if they will be using the waitlist? I havenā€™t seen any updates with regards to the CALS waitlist and I havenā€™t gotten an email back yet in response to my question.

@lightningzoom I havenā€™t gotten any info on CALS. I feel like they wonā€™t be going to their waitlist this year :frowning:

@AstraDv ā€¦same here feel that they will not go into WL this year. Absolutely no info on CALS

Hey HumanEc folks I realized something in the middle of the night. I donā€™t think anybody else gets calls today or tomorrow (Friday) because HumanEcā€™s initial calls were on Tuesday. Those candidates are given five days to decide, which puts them at Saturday. So I think Monday will be the earliest they make more calls, I am guessing. It makes sense that they see how many come back as accepting from that first batch.

Iā€™m waiting on CALS too but I really donā€™t think that we should assume that they arenā€™t using the WL. Iā€™m pretty sure ILR also hasnā€™t accepted off the waitlist and in the past CALS has used the waitlist so we should try to stay positive about this. I donā€™t think that they would purposely keep us in the dark especially when people have emailed them.
