@yoyoyorar true that, I was being a bit impatient. Next week sounds more likely, given that there was no movement today anyways
Wouldnât the ICE decree cause them to pull more off the waitlist in every college, even those that were almost at capacity? Iâd assume the waitlists will all move a ton now. Which is why they didnât reject people on the 10th. I think everyone still here has a decent shot but I doubt TOs will be offered since most intlâs will choose to gap, so idk why theyâd ask ppl to come next year.
Cornell is in person tho, so I think this affects hybrid/mainly online/online schools way more. But I think theyâll still take a ton from the WL
@harvardptonwlboi It might. But Cornell is in-person/hybrid, not 100% online. ICE Decree only affects schools like Harvard that chose to offer 100% online, no? Why would Cornell support the lawsuit then? Baffling⊠maybe grad schools offer online only?
@LimboKid What abt other schools that are âhybridâ but online for all practical purposes. Iâm also on the waitlist for UC Berkeley, which claims to be hybrid, but said it might be all online, and is already 98% of classes are online. So it would actually affect a school like that a ton I think.
âWhy would Cornell support the lawsuit then?â
Because Cornell is committed to supporting their international students like all the other schools that joined the amicus brief. Schools are invested in this decision because what happens if they have to move all online in the middle of the semester because of a second wave?
@harvardptonwlboi How many wls are you on, buddy?
You got a good point. One outbreak, everyoneâs home again and 100% online just like March.
@LimboKid Harvard Stanford Brown Princeton UC Berkeley UCLA UCSB UCI UW-Seattle. WL. Really hope to get into one, especially some ivy which would plug aid or Berkeley LA UW since Iâm premed
Got into Rice Emory NYU UMichigan but for some reason something funky happened w aid and i couldnât go.
Committed to UCSC sadboi life I rlly donât wanna go there lolol
@harvardptonwlboi Woah dude! You got range. Best of luck to you!
To lighten our mood, here is my fav SNL from a year ago:
My mom is freaking out after reading this from WaPo.
Again, maybe the ICE thing is a blessing in disguise for some internationals.
DHS and ICE Rescind Policy Barring International Students Taking Online Courses
https://www.thecrimson.com/article/2020/7/15/ice-lawsuit-policy-rescinded/
DHS & ICE backed down:
âThe Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement have agreed to rescind a policy that would bar international students taking online-only courses from residing in the United States, federal judge Allison D. Burroughs announced at a hearing on TuesdayâŠless than five minutes into a hearingâŠâ
Great news for the internationals!
Any news? Also are people sending AP scores?
No, I donât think itâs worth spending money to send your AP scores. Cornell already knows that weâre academically qualified, so thatâs why they waitlisted us. I havenât heard anything back yet unfortunately.
@yoyoyorar @AstraDv If your AP scores are good 3,4,5 I think itâs worth sending them an update email instead of paying to send the scores
Also I have not heard back at all
An article in the Cornell Sun regarding fall reactivation states that âHousing assignments will be available around July 24,â which is next Friday.
Perhaps we will soon hear that the waitlist is done.
⊠QuarantineâŠ
90% California schools will be online unless infection improves. Will the rest of the country follow this approach as daily cases surpass 70,000?

https://calmatters.org/education/2020/07/california-schools-shut-down-reopening/
I think weâll find out tomorrow. I tried to log onto my application status portal and I got this notification âThe page you have requested is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later.â
yeah I noticed that too - do you think its a good sign? or is it an indication that the waitlist is over
