I'm applying to Cornell engineering early decision, and I heard that typically Cornell doesn't offer any interviews. So this is surprising. A few of my friends said that they were just random checks, and I got selected, and others say that the admissions officers are debating between me and someone else to admit. I'm worried about this.

Basically my question is: what does it mean? Is it good or bad? do i have better chances? does everyone who applies ed to engineering get an interview?

Thanks!

Do you not like the responses you were given on the ed thread…?
Is it an alumni interview? If so, they are purely informational.

Yeah haha, they didn’t really answer the question @jamesjunkers. It is an alumni interview, but i don’t understand why i was chosen, which does freak me out a bit

They are completely based on availability of alumni in your area. It’s not a good thing nor a bad thing. The point of the interview is for you to ask questions about the school. A report will be sent to Cornell, but it really has no impact on admissions, unless you did something detrimental (such as not showing up).
