dude you should be solid getting into bu, i see no problem there

your ec's are good

bumpbump bump

What's your gpa and sat scores? The emphasis on math in your ec's looks pretty good, especially since you have many leadership positions.

SAT math 800, CR 710, Writing 710
SAT II Chem 790, Math IIC 790, physics 700 (retake probably 760+, will rush it in)

GPA: now this is tricky, my sophomore year english and spanish grade hurt me a lot and I wasnt fully adapted to the environment yet (moving from hong kong to the US)
I go to a school that sends 30% of its grads to HYPS..right now I have a B+ average, or 2nd quintile, but huge upswing trend and stellar first marking period grades(sent)

My math and science curriculum is more than maxed, took multivariable calc and linear algebra junior year.. also took AP chem test 5 and AP physics B test 4 tests after honors courses

right now I am taking 4 APs senior year

You seem to have an above average chance at Cornell...

Your ECs look good, but understand that for all of these schools, the ECs are secondary. It's the GPA, class rank, SATs, and SAT2s that really count. B+ and 2nd quintile is a bit weak for both Cornell and WashU, though a really good first marking period will probably help. On the other hand, your SATs and SAT2s are darn good. So:

Cornell - Reach
WashU - slight reach
carnegie mellon - Match
u mich - Match
tufts - Match
U of Illinois - Low match
BU - Safety

i forgot, my dad went to cornell grad school for 4 years, does that help along with the ED?

bump bump bump

i also had my college advisor explain about the change of environment, moving cold turkey from a local school in hong kong to one of the top boarding schools...

well, i can confirm now I have real legacy coz i called up cornell and they say grad school and undergrad are the same according to their policy,,hope with ED it boosts?

bumpbump bump

bumpity bump bump bum

You'll probably get a bit of a boost from your legacy status. Let's call Cornell a slight reach on that basis.

awesomemmmm

Cornell is the most depressing hole on earth.

you have a good shot at cornell, and those other match schools on ur list

why is cornell depressing?

I visited over the weekend, it is bleak, gray, cold, in the middle of nowhere. The kids at this school are like robots, they are all unhappy, and all wish that they had gone somewhere else (this is what a tourguide told me).
