what was your essay about intellectual interest about? mine is about my desire to be a banquet manager, but that is really my career interests

I basically wrote about some of the courses I took in high school and how I would apply them to a career in hospitality management. Then I went on to talk about my experience with catering jobs and how this work experience developed my interest in hospitality. They LOVE to see the strong focus so I'm sure they would love an essay on your career plans. Just try to connect it to something you've learned thus far. (If you haven't already.) Good luck!!

Thanks so much

ummm ok I am completely screwed...I am applying to hotel as well and my intellectual interests essay talked about how when I was really young I had all these little business ventures and how as I grew older I went on to take business classes and join fbla, fed challenge...i didn't talk about the future however and i didn't really mention hospitality specifically, but I did say how I wanted an interactive business career rather than a cubicle, number crunching one. Is that ok??? Should I change it??

you probably what to specifically mention hospitatlity, and how it relates to all you learned

see the thing is...i don't have room. Could one of you's possibly read it? provide some feedback? maybe what I can cut out.

I still think that sounds really really good, indiegal. Did you specifically mention hospitality in your 2nd essay? Because the 2nd essay is the one where you really get the chance to sell why the Hotel School is right for you.

Oh yeah, I really didn't write about Engineering at all for the first essay, I probably should have, but simply applying for the school of Engineering I think showed them I had an interest in it. I wrote about lots of OTHER things that interested me BESIDES Engineering. I took "intellectual interests" to be things like literature, movies, anything that I would like to talk about. Engineering I don't really consider to be an "intellectual" interest, it's really more of a technical interest.

In my second essay, though, I talked generally about how I would take full advantage of the thousands of classes offered by Cornell, and how the workload would be made much more bearable on the simple fact that I was directly affecting my future career.

Dunno if I did them right, but meh, I've got other colleges to go to if I don't get into Cornell.

I'd be happy to read it. PM to me.

Cornell engineering is really competitive, I wish you good luck

I didn't finish the second one yet...lol (procrastinator). But I DEF PLAN ON TALKING ALL ABOUT HOTEL in it. Thanks a bunch btw!

how did your interview go?

You're welcome! Keep me posted. Blonde, are you asking me about the interview or indie?

both, b/c I would like to know about other people's

well i have mine Jan 28th 11:00 am on campus...so we'll see. What about u??

I had the Head of Enrollment.. I'm not sure if he usually does interviews but I had spoken to him via email so I felt so much more relaxed once he introduced himself. He was so interesting to talk to and it lasted over an hour. I'm not sure just how much clout the interview has, but it definitely helped my cause. LOL Did you have yours yet, Blonde?

Yeah I had mine with the general manager of the statler, I was really nervous, not to mention I had fallen in the parking lot before hand, I only hope that he is sympathetic

Awe! Don't worry, they're compassionate people. I was soo nervous beforehand I literally could not eat for a week.. Just be happy it's over, I'm sure it went fine. :)

thanks a lot you mad me feel better

wish u best of luck...blonde. I'm sure it went fine :) I hope you get in!
