Cornell's 2013-2014 Engineering Supplement

The supplemental essay for those planning on applying to Cornell's engineering college this year has been released and it is: "Tell us about an engineering idea you have, or about your interest in engineering. Describe how your ideas and interests may be realized by—and linked to—specific resources within the College of Engineering. Finally, explain what a Cornell Engineering education will enable you to accomplish."

To all of you who are applying to Cornell this Winter: why don't we use this thread as a discussion board to improve each other's essays? A little constructive criticism never hurt anyone! I'd love to give some advice to fellow seniors applying to Cornell and I'm sure I'll need some myself.

Cheers!

Ur thread is most likely going to be a place where plagarism will be at its best. So i doubt anyone would post their ideas as this prompt isnt personal and can be plagarised with ease

Essays are one of the few things I don’t share on CC because of plagiarism.

^ This. If you don’t think twice about sharing something as important as that to strangers online… well…

Bad, bad idea. They want to see an INDIVIDUAL’s effort - not numerous versions of the same essay. It’s actually an easy essay, even for math/science kids. If you can’t answer this question, then maybe engineering isn’t for you.

I want to ask a question. Can an idea for a smartphone app be an engineering idea?
Thanks.
