when did you guys get this email?! I've been accepted to CAS, am a URM, and haven't received one- now i'm getting anxious! I would rather do this than have to PAY for Cornell Days.

@ ChaoticOrder

Just got the email today at 12:02AM.

lol you sound like Barack Obama. :)

^ Not sparking any political debates but however liberal that comment may have been, I am not. Lol.

yeah if you already visited cornell you usually wont get invited to visit...

i am from texas and was invited...

when you go to DHW you will realize that many kids also got accepted into another ivy or two as well as other top 50 schools...

Are these invitations sent to only those accepted ED and those who got likely letters?

I got one, CAS, I dont know if I can go though, I'm missing too much school due to college visits, havent had a full week of attendance in a while. Is it worth me missing school?? I already know the campus is beautiful (online pics, talking to ppl who went there), and I already know its a top notch school...

I would suggest going if you possibly can because you get to see the culture of the campus. You get to see the other kinds of people on campus, and you get to see the way of life around here.

I cannot recommend it highly enough. It was the deciding factor in me applying to Cornell. Everyone there is amazing, you get to meet some awesome kids while you are there, and you will have fun to boot. I know several of the people that went the same weekend as me got to go to some parties their hosts took them to. I would have gotten to go except that my host was on the football team and had practice the next morning.

I would go. Take the absences and see Cornell, it's truly worth it.

ChaoticOrder, they don't send DHW invites to all URMs. When I was a pre-frosh I didn't get one either, and I'm Black. Two other people from my school were invited and I felt left out :(

But you can get invited to both. I know a lot of people who went to both MVP and DHW. Also, if you have not been officially accepted yet , but you got a invite to DHW, then you basically got in. They can't invite you somewhere and then say you're rejected, they'd get sued! lol

And the events get wacker and wacker every year, y'all may think it's great, but you need to have been there back in the day it was the bomb! I feel they don't do enough to show black kids(and I talk about Black kids 'cause that's the group Cornell has the most trouble attracting) how much better(socially) going to Cornell is than going to somewhere like Penn, for example, a black student. And maybe that is because it's not better, but they can at least put up a front. But you will still really love the weekend, it is great to meet new people. Good luck everyone!

It's totally worth it! I went to one of the parties ZFanatic was talking about. At the very least it'll be a very fun weekend, and it may very well be one of the few ways to visit Cornell for free.

Just out of curiosity, ZFanatic do you crew?

I do not... I wish I went to a private school where it was offered but unfortunately at public high schools in Texas, crew isn't the most popular sport...

Who'da thunk it?

so i got an invitation to DHW yesterday and I'm hoping that its true that i am basically was accepted(is this true?). I don't know what to think i haven't gotten a likely letter. should i get one? if i don't will i be accepted on the 31st? i applied to CALS.

my bad for the badly written response

it's weird b/c my senior year in HS i was invited to DHW only after acceptance...

it's sorta sad though...met a few people who did get in but still couldnt afford to attend...others got into HYPS and were just at Cornell for the free trip (watch out for these arrogant mofos)

if ur invited, ur in! U wouldnt have received one if u were going to be rejected on the 31st, seeing as the program takes place in april!

n imma try to go, bc I need to see what ithaca is like

HYPS = Harvard Yale Princeton Stanford?

I sorta did the same thing last fall. Had almost no intention of being an engineer and zero for going to Cornell, but attending DHW totally turned me around and I fell in love with Cornell and applied, got a LL and am now 100% hoping that's where I end up.

@ZFanatic

What's a LL?
