Looking at previous year's ranking on US News and Report, is Cornell's ranking likely to go up or down over the next several years/decade? I am unable to find the data on Cornell old rankings.

Why does it matter? Do you think the rankings can tell you anything about the quality of the education a school can provide to you?

Suggest decide what's important to you, personally, and do your own "ranking" on those criteria.

Eh, I still think its an interesting question.

it will go up upon the entrance of the class of 2013 :)

While it certainly will unlikely to affect the quality of education that I will be receiving at Cornell, it will certainly affect other people's perception of me down the road.

lmfao, you have a psychosis if you honestly believe that.

"While it certainly will unlikely to affect the quality of education that I will be receiving at Cornell, it will certainly affect other people's perception of me down the road."

No.

lol course it'll go up ;) or else...

I think this is a valid question. I know quality of education at Cornell is still going to be superb as always, but ranking is pretty important for other's perception of the school. Afterall, college is a brand that stays with you forever...
so my answer is, yes cornell's ranking is not likely to go lower than what it is now, but I cant see it going up much, I would say it will mostly stay within 8-14 in next 10 years or so. who knows though? penn used to be ranked worst before wharton came along

Well cornell engineering program ranking in the ivy league won't go up :P

When I was picking which colleges to apply, I compiled a list of 50 colleges, and each with its grad school placement performance. I ranked them from the highest to the lowest. I covered up the names, and just applied for the top 20 schools (yes I applied for 20 schools).

After being deferred from Cornell, my top choice now is University of Chicago, which happens to be on top of my list. I would jump for joy if I get GT though. I do not want to pay $204,000 for my undergrad education (I did not apply for aid for Chicago). I can just afford $51,000 for one year and that's it. XD

ranking is just one of many ways to judge a school
and imo, it's not a very accurate depiction
if you are worried about how "it will certainly affect other people's perception of you down the road," i think an IVY LEAGUE school speaks for itself

well i'm about to graduate...so it should be going up within the next few years ;)

you could have done a forum search for this, but that would have been too dang hard now, wouldn't it?
